A conversation with Anca Mirona Constantinescu, founder of First Concept, about her journey in interior design, the balance between aesthetics and functionality, and how she creates spaces that are not only seen, but truly felt.

Anca Mirona Constantinescu is the founder of First Concept and an interior designer with a vision built around the balance between aesthetics and functionality. A graduate of the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urban Planning in Bucharest, she shaped her professional path guided by authentic ambition and a deep passion for beauty and visual expression.

Drawn to art, aesthetics, and organization since childhood, she chose to follow a path that reflects not only competence but also a genuine connection to what she creates. Guided by the belief that she cannot create things she does not truly believe in, she transformed this passion into an authentic professional direction, developing projects where every detail is designed with meaning, coherence, and emotion.

C&B: How did your journey in interior design begin and what drew you to this creative field?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: I don’t think there was a single moment when I decided “this is what I want to do,” but rather a continuous thread that started in childhood. I was always drawn to art, harmony, and the idea of creating something that lasts—something tangible, that holds meaning over time. I like to believe that every time I shape a space, I leave a part of myself there, in a place that becomes “home” for someone else.

Initially, I chose a safer path and started studying Tourism Management. I was 19 and, realistically speaking, I didn’t believe I could build a career in the creative field. But along the way, I started to feel more and more clearly that I wasn’t in the right place—I found myself sketching and drawing even during classes. It was a very honest signal that I could no longer ignore.

I then decided to completely change direction and pursue architecture. It was a bet on myself, without guarantees, but a necessary one. After graduating, I consciously chose to start in the technical area, working as a custom furniture designer. It was an extremely important stage because it taught me how things actually work—materials, execution, limitations, and solutions. Later, after gaining experience, I took the step toward starting my own company. Looking back, every stage played its role in building what I do today.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far and how did you overcome it?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: The pandemic period was, without a doubt, the most difficult. I was just starting my business, still in the process of learning and adapting, and that context came with a lot of uncertainty and pressure.

It was the first time I truly felt a lack of control and constantly asked myself “what’s next?” I didn’t know whether projects would continue or if everything would come to a halt. In that moment, I chose not to refuse any opportunity and to keep moving forward, even without having all the answers.

It was a very intense period, during which I worked a lot, sometimes up to 14 hours a day, without real breaks. It wasn’t easy, but it helped me develop discipline, resilience, and the ability to function under pressure. It was the kind of experience that changes you and makes you more aware of how much you can actually handle.

C&B: Which projects or experiences have defined your style so far?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: I believe that, in reality, my style is not defined by a type of project, but by people. Each client comes with a different energy, with distinct needs and expectations, and I like to build around them.

I always try to create spaces that represent them, not just spaces that look good. At the same time, I take into account the budget and the real limitations of each space—because good design must also be applicable, not just aesthetic.

There have been projects where I had complete creative freedom, and those were defining for me. Especially in the HoReCa sector and in clinic projects, where I was able to leave a clearer personal mark and explore concepts that truly represent me. That’s where you feel the difference—when you’re not just solving a space, but actually creating it from scratch.

C&B: If we met your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: I think they would say I’m a creative person who constantly tests her limits and tries to bring something different into every project. I’m involved and attentive to detail—sometimes maybe too attentive—but I believe that’s exactly where the difference is made.

At the same time, I enjoy working in a team and having real communication, not just formal exchanges. I believe that good projects come from collaboration, not from a single imposed direction.

And they would probably mention a more personal aspect—that I function much better after 9:30 in the morning. Until then, things move… a bit slower. :)))))))))

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: It wasn’t a very clearly defined dream from the beginning, but there was always the desire to build something of my own—something authentic that represents me in the long term.

Over time, I realized that I don’t just want to create beautiful spaces, but spaces that convey a feeling. For me, a successful project is not just about aesthetics, but about that moment when you enter a place and feel that it represents you—that it “clicks” with you.

I think that’s actually my ambition—to create spaces that are not just seen, but felt.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: The moment I decided to give up my initial path and move toward architecture was, without a doubt, the most important. It was a difficult decision, because it came with a lot of uncertainty and no guarantees.

The second important decision was starting my own company. That’s where the real part begins—when it’s no longer just about creativity, but also about responsibility, organization, and daily accountability.

These two moments defined me the most and pushed me completely out of my comfort zone.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or the way you make decisions?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: It’s a process I learned over time. In the beginning, I relied heavily on instinct, but experience taught me that it’s important to maintain a balance between intuition and analysis.

I learned to listen more, to consider the opinions of those around me, and not to rush decisions. At the same time, I learned to fully own them, even when they are not the easiest ones.

I believe my style was shaped by real experiences, mistakes, and a constant desire to evolve and do things better from one project to the next.

C&B: How would you describe your design style and what sets you apart?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: I don’t believe in a rigid style, because every project comes with a different story. My style is more about balance—between aesthetics and functionality, between the client’s wishes and the reality of the space.

I don’t try to impose a style, but to discover it together with the client. I believe good design is the one that represents you, not the one that follows a trend.

What sets me apart is attention to detail and the way I think of each project as a whole. Because, most of the time, details are what transform a space from “okay” into something memorable.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: I don’t think there is a typical day in the classic sense. Every day is different and comes with its own challenges—from client meetings to working on concepts or visiting construction sites.

I enjoy this dynamic because it keeps me connected to all stages of the project. The most satisfying moments are when I see an idea starting to take shape in reality.

But beyond that, the most important moment remains when the client sees themselves in the final space. That’s when I feel the whole process made sense.

C&B: What values guide you?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: Authenticity is the most important to me. I can’t create something I don’t truly believe in.

Beyond that, I’m guided by integrity and attention to detail. I try to maintain them in every project, even when it would be easier to choose the quicker option.

I believe the real difference is made exactly in these small things, which, put together, define the quality of a project.

C&B: What does your working process look like?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: Everything starts with a conversation where I try to understand the person, not just the space. I find it essential to understand the client’s lifestyle, needs, and expectations.

Then comes the concept phase, visual development, selections, and finally implementation. It’s a process that may seem simple on the surface, but in reality involves many adjustments.

What matters is that, regardless of changes, the initial direction remains coherent and the final result reflects both the vision and reality.

C&B: What are the most common mistakes people make without a specialist?

Anca Mirona Constantinescu: The most common mistake is the lack of an overall vision. People choose elements that look good individually, but don’t work together.

Functionality is also often ignored. A space shouldn’t just look good—it needs to be easy to live in and respond to real needs.

From my experience, the biggest problems appear in the details—proportions, lighting, materials. Exactly where they are not immediately visible, but where the difference is felt the most.

Anca Mirona Constantinescu’s journey is defined by the courage to follow her intuition and build, step by step, an authentic path. Beyond aesthetics, her projects speak of emotion, coherence, and attention to detail—elements that transform each space into a personal experience. For her, design is not just about how a place looks, but how it makes you feel.

Alex Olteanu is the founder of mesageria, a brand that blends technology with old objects and makes wedding parties memorable through phones that record voice messages during the event.

C&B: If you were to describe yourself briefly, in a single sentence that sparks curiosity, what would you say about yourself?

Alex: I’d say I’m a geek with social skills (impossible, I know). I love technology, and at the same time I enjoy making people’s lives easier, all combined with a passion for old things.

That’s how I founded mesageria, a brand that combines old objects (vintage phones) with modern technology. The vintage phones are brought back to life, given new functions (for example, they can record voice messages), and rented out for private events (such as weddings) or brand activations.

C&B: If we asked your colleagues or collaborators to describe you, what do you think they would say about you?

Alex: I think they would talk about trust, reliability, and a “let’s make it happen” attitude (that exact spirit that makes anything possible). I’ve always lived by the “extra mile” motto, meaning taking things a bit further, and that has meant always offering more than I think people expect.

Journey & beginnings

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey and how do you feel you’ve changed up to today?

Alex: I think all the experience behind me came with a lot of courage. The diversity of fields I’ve worked in over time has made me much more diligent with any idea, and from idea to plan it’s just one step. I believe the most important thing I’ve learned (and set out to do) was to start — because once something is started, half the work is already done.

C&B: Looking back, what were the turning points that shaped your professional path or your business?

Alex: There were multiple moments when I found myself asking, “So what do I do now?” And I think each of those situations made the decisions that followed easier. When I founded mesageria, I had just spent almost seven years in the same multinational company. It was another such moment, but with an infinite desire to go on my own (for as long as possible). It worked, and I managed to turn a simple idea into a full-time business.

Challenges & decisions

C&B: What has been the hardest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?

Alex: Of course, it was when I decided to step a bit out of the corporate zone and develop my own brand. At the time, I saw it as something temporary, but here I am two years later, still here.

At that time, mesageria was just a prototype (which I had worked on for six months). It was far from ready, but I already had everything in mind: an online booking platform, phone models to restore, and how to reach as many people as possible. That helped because it kept me on a business path that could otherwise have easily fallen apart.

C&B: What decision most changed the direction of your career or business?

Alex: For mesageria, it was the moment when brands saw the value in our concept and started asking for various features I hadn’t necessarily thought about until then. I decided to respond to those requests, and that led to the development of an entire business unit focused on brand activations using vintage phones (basically, old technology brought back to life). That’s how new features appeared and how, for example, I made the rotary system of a 50-year-old phone work again and recognize the dialed number. And the people who interact with the phones at events make everything so much more beautiful.

C&B: Has your leadership and decision-making style formed naturally, or did you build it over time through experience?

Alex: Experience definitely helped enormously. My journey was completely atypical because I started (as a student) working for a series of film festivals where I developed both technical and production skills (and where I learned that sometimes you can be good at everything). I had a taste of entrepreneurship in HoReCa, learned sales in the financial sector, and then continued in the corporate IT market. All the accumulated experience is part of who I am today. I learned from many mistakes, solved problems through trial and error, and optimized many processes during my corporate years. That defines a lot of how the mesageria business is organized, from pricing strategy to component sourcing.

Present & differentiators

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now and which moments bring you the greatest joy?

Alex: I like days that bring something new, and I think that’s the biggest advantage of being an entrepreneur. If many days focus on marketing and communication, the most beautiful ones are those when I decide that a certain vintage phone model should be part of the mesageria collection. That’s when the search begins in collectors’ groups or at fairs.

And of course, as simple as the mesageria business may seem, it actually consists of many elements: vintage phones, hardware for the mesageria system, software that is continuously improved, new features and new areas of application (the most recent project involves museums and art galleries), plus the new project, wedding on film.

C&B: What do you think makes you different from other professionals or other businesses in your field?

Alex: I believe I built everything around a quality service rather than the “cheapest” one. I’ve always put clients at the center and I always put myself in their shoes. That’s how all business decisions are defined.

In addition, everything about mesageria started from the premise of building something unique. It would have been very easy to import phones that already have a voice recording function, but I chose to focus on authenticity and build my own system compatible with old phones. That makes things sustainable at the same time, because I chose to save old objects instead of creating new ones without personality.

Values & inspiration

C&B: Was there a dream or desire that kept you motivated regardless of obstacles?

Alex: As far as mesageria is concerned, from the beginning I set out to have the largest collection of vintage phones in the country available for rent. Did I get there? Very possible. But what’s more important is the trajectory I followed. And happy clients have always been the best motivation.

C&B: What values or principles guide you day by day and how do you manage to keep them alive in what you do?

Alex: I brought many personal principles into the business, and sometimes that wasn’t exactly pleasant. One of them is related to the balance between what you give and what you receive in a business relationship. That’s how I built mesageria’s relationship with all clients, and it’s a foundation for pricing policies, quality standards, extra services, and many other values that define the brand.

C&B: If you could share a single thought with those who see you as a role model, what would it be?

Alex: I mentioned earlier that the most important step is to start. And I think that’s the first piece of advice I would give anyone. To start, no matter how shyly, small, or with minimal investment. Once you’ve taken that step, it will be much clearer whether the idea works, whether you have the right people around you, and especially whether you are made for it.

Alex Olteanu’s journey shows how a passion for technology combined with an appreciation for vintage objects can turn a simple idea into an innovative business, where every detail matters and every client becomes part of the story.

Explore Alina Țuțuianu’s journey at the intersection of art and education, and her vision of how creativity can transform entire generations.

Alina Țuțuianu works at the intersection of art and education, developing projects that bring together artistic research, alternative pedagogy, and community engagement. She is the founder of Flori, fete și băieți, a non-formal educational center dedicated to preschoolers, where early childhood education is combined with creative methods of learning.
Here, children explore the world through art, play, and reflection, in an environment that cultivates autonomy, empathy, and critical thinking.
In parallel, Alina has extensive experience in contemporary art, working as a curator, cultural manager, and initiator of educational and exhibition programs. She has co-curated more than 30 exhibitions in Romania and abroad and has collaborated in curatorial and managerial teams for major institutions and initiatives such as MNAC, Salonul de proiecte, and Frieze Art Fair.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence, in a way that would spark curiosity for those who don’t know you yet?
Alina: I’m Alina. I live in Bucharest with my husband, Adrian, and our two sons, Călin (7) and Sandu (2), and I work with children aged 2 to 6. My fields of interest revolve around contemporaneity, which I understand as a living, fluid territory where contemporary art and early childhood education meet, play, ask questions, and sometimes even provide answers.
I am deeply interested in how creativity, critical thinking, and experimentation can be nurtured from the earliest ages, as well as in how art can become a real tool for learning, discovery, and connection. For me, there are no boundaries between the “general public” and “little people” – everyone has the capacity to understand and experience art, as long as they are offered a genuine and vibrant space in which to explore.

C&B: If we were to follow the narrative thread of your career or business, what key moments defined you?
Alina: The first was when I gave up on the (very elitist) Law School in Bucharest and moved to London to study contemporary art – a radical but liberating decision that set me on an authentic creative path and gave me access to a completely different approach: I was no longer in competition, I was in a place of knowledge, where sharing mattered more than keeping to yourself; art is not in an isolated place, it connects to everything else; the space of art is one of generosity, curiosity, exchange, and constant learning.
The second decisive moment was becoming a mother – a profound transformation that completely rewrote my priorities and gave me an inner clarity that no school could ever provide. These two moments taught me courage, presence, and the importance of owning my story.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Alina: The hardest challenge has been, and still is, facing the feeling of helplessness when confronted with the need to support more people than my time and resources allow. It was difficult to accept that, although I wanted to help everyone, I couldn’t do it all alone.
I gradually learned to recognize the signs of emotional overload and to give myself permission to take breaks without guilt. Recently, practices such as meditation, self-reflection, and swimming have helped me maintain balance and return with energy and clarity. It’s an ongoing process that continues to teach me how important it is to take care of myself in order to be able to care for others.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, no matter the obstacles?
Alina: Looking back, I realize there has always been one dream guiding me through everything: to build a space where children are seen, heard, and encouraged. A place where education is not about conformity, but about trust, curiosity, and inner freedom.
Flori, fete și băieți was the concrete response to that dream. It wasn’t an easy journey – neither in vision nor in implementation – but it was profoundly aligned with what I believe about how people and society are formed.
For me, it is not just an educational project. It is a form of gentle activism, a declaration of faith in the potential of every child and in the impact that a safe, vibrant, and authentic space can have on a generation.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed since then?
Alina: At the beginning, I was brave but insecure. I had clear intuitions but not always the confidence to follow them through. I moved between “what I feel” and “what is expected.”
Over time, I’ve transformed into someone much more grounded in my own vision. I learned to listen to myself, to own my choices, and to stop seeking external validation for what I know deeply makes sense.
I shifted from searching for a “fitting” place for me, to building one. Now, I don’t want to check boxes anymore. I want to create vibrant spaces, cultivate presence, and remain true to a way of being that doesn’t compromise the essential.

C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Alina: I believe they would say I am present, engaged, and visionary. That I know how to hold space for people and ideas without forcing or controlling. They would probably also say that I am demanding but not rigid – that I hold high internal standards, but apply them with kindness.
That I care more about direction, meaning, and deep coherence than about superficial perfection.
And, above all, that I am fully there – when it truly matters.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?
Alina: The most important decision that shifted my path was partnering with Flavia.
It wasn’t just a business decision, but a profoundly personal one. Flavia is that rare kind of person beside whom you can show yourself completely – with your most fragile ideas, vulnerabilities, wild dreams, and big plans. She has a warm yet clear presence, a balance between emotion and structure.
Our collaboration brought me not only a trustworthy partner but also an honest mirror, a constant source of stability in chaos, and courage in difficult times. She helped me clarify my path, grow, and build more authentically than I could have alone.
Looking back, that “yes” I said to her was, in fact, a “yes” to a braver and more aligned version of myself.

C&B: What do you think differentiates your business or professional approach from the rest of the industry?
Alina: What differentiates my business and professional approach is the combination of radical love, true inclusion, and a fluid pedagogical vision that weaves together several philosophies – Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf – in a living, contextual, and empathetic way.
I believe in an educational space that doesn’t standardize children but listens to them. That doesn’t impose rhythms but observes them. And above all, I believe in an education carried out with gentleness, presence, and the deep belief that every child deserves to be seen, not just “molded.”
For me, inclusion isn’t a principle written on the walls, but a daily practice: in language, in gestures, in the way we sit together at the table, regardless of our differences. Even the name Flori, fete și băieți speaks to this: to diversity and the freedom to be yourself, beyond labels.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them every day?
Alina: The values that guide me are humanity, the courage to be authentic, and the responsibility to build spaces where people don’t just function but feel at home.
I deeply believe that education and care for others cannot exist without community. In a world where more and more parents raise their children alone, far from extended families, I believe we need to rebuild that “village” that supports the child – and implicitly the adult.
Every day, I practice this through small but essential decisions: how I listen, how I speak, how I create space for differences – be they cultural, emotional, or rhythmic. In my projects, diversity is not a detail, but a foundation. And activism is not a label, but a constant choice to make room for everyone.
I believe every gesture educates. And if we want a gentler world, we must model it starting with the way we look at each other.

C&B: If you were to share a message with those who follow your example, what would it be?
Alina: Trust your vision, even if it doesn’t look like anyone else’s. Your difference is your strength. Build from conviction, not from fear. Choose collaborations that nourish you, not just ones that work on paper.
And above all: stay true to your values even when it’s hard – because that’s where true leadership shows. Sustainable success doesn’t come from doing things “like everyone else,” but from creating a space where others find themselves precisely because you had the courage to be yourself.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence, in a way that makes people who don’t know you yet curious?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: Macovei Cosmin is a graphic designer who uses his creativity, technique, and strategic thinking to build visual identities that not only look good but also communicate clearly and persuasively—and most importantly, drive sales.

C&B: If we were to look at the narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: Looking back, I believe my professional story was built on three major moments. The first was the decision not to treat design as a side activity, but as a profession with all its responsibilities. The second key stage was when I started working with new brands that weren’t yet on the market, had no visual strategy, and I had to learn how to build one from start to finish. The third defining moment was when I began refusing projects that didn’t align with my values. It was a difficult step, but it helped me shape my style and attract the right collaborations.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: The most difficult moment was a period of burnout when I felt like I was doing too many things and yet completing nothing. I was accepting far too many projects, without a clear strategy and often without the energy to finish them, which brought me close to losing touch with the passion that made me choose this profession in the first place. I overcame this block by taking a break and asking myself the right questions, which helped me reorganize my activity, better define my services, and rediscover my motivation.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, no matter the obstacles?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: From the very beginning, I’ve had the desire to build something unique and long-lasting—something that will stand strong even years from now. I was guided by the idea that design is not about trends or temporary “wow” effects, but about structure, consistency, and meaning. My dream has been, and still is, to be a point of reference in the visual branding industry—not necessarily through notoriety, but through the real impact I leave on my clients’ projects.

C&B: How did you look at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you have transformed since then?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: At the beginning, I was enthusiastic, with a heavy dose of perfectionism and a burning desire to prove myself. I lacked concrete tools and self-confidence, but I had curiosity and the willingness to learn. Today, I am more balanced. I know that a good project is not only about aesthetics but also about communication, functionality, and adaptability. The most important transformation has been in my mindset: I no longer see design as a standalone artistic activity, but as a collaborative process, based on a deep understanding of clients’ and audiences’ needs.

C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: I think they would say that I am organized, ambitious, serious, and very detail-oriented. I sometimes ask a lot of questions, but they are essential for clarifying direction (I’ve created several complex questionnaires for this purpose). I am the kind of person who doesn’t stop until I find a coherent solution.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: To publicly assume who I am and what I offer. This was a decision that came after years of working “in the shadows,” without putting my name forward. When I chose to communicate clearly, build a transparent portfolio, and promote myself, it was a moment of professional ownership and maturity.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or the way you make decisions? Was it a natural process or something you learned?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: I learned along the way. My style was shaped by projects, people, and failures. At first, I made impulsive decisions—sometimes too emotional or too fast. Over time, I learned to analyze, to listen, and then to make the important calls. Now, I balance reason and instinct: I listen, filter, analyze, and take responsibility. I always strive to find the best solutions for clients. Each client has taught me something new, and each project has helped me improve my services. It’s a flexible style, but with clear principles.

C&B: What do you think differentiates your business or professional approach from the rest of the industry?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: I believe the difference lies in how I relate to the client: as a partner, not just a “beneficiary.” I don’t just deliver a logo or a poster—I build a direction, ask strategic questions, and design a system of visual communication. This means that sometimes projects take longer, but they have long-term impact.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which moments bring you the most satisfaction?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: A typical day starts with a good coffee and a careful review of briefs and client feedback. I usually dedicate mornings to creative work, when my energy is highest and my mind is clear. After lunch, I focus on the technical side: adjustments, preparing files, color tests, mockups, and so on. The day ends with a moment of reflection on progress and with sketching spontaneous ideas for future projects. The greatest satisfaction: seeing clients resonate with the brands I create. I love hearing: “This is exactly what I wanted!”

C&B: What values or principles guide you in your work, and how do you apply them daily?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: I work with three constant pillars: clarity, consistency, and respect. Clarity helps me communicate simply, without ambiguity, in briefs, proposals, and deliverables. Consistency gives me rhythm—in style, deadlines, and ethics. Respect is shown towards the client, the work, and myself. I don’t accept compromises that could harm my professional direction.

C&B: How did you come up with the idea to start this business, and why did you choose this name?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: CM Design grew naturally, as projects became more numerous and substantial. The name was a decision of ownership: instead of choosing a “creative,” abstract name, I decided to use the initials of my own name—because what I sell is my expertise, vision, and style. It’s a statement of transparency, but also a commitment: everything I deliver carries my signature.

C&B: If you were to share a message with people who want to follow your example, what would it be?
Macovei Cosmin Alexandru: Never stop learning, and don’t wait until you feel “ready” to start. Begin, practice, make mistakes, and learn from feedback. Ask questions, stay curious, but also take ownership. And above all: design is not just about beauty. Design is functional, strategic, and clear. Don’t be afraid to take risks—creativity needs courage. Be the kind of professional who builds things that last and that help, not just impress.

The story of Macovei Cosmin Alexandru is proof that a strong brand is built on clarity, consistency, and courage. Through every project, he shows that design is not just about aesthetics but a strategic process that delivers real value to clients and creates identities that stand the test of time.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in one sentence to spark curiosity in those who don’t know you yet?
Nicole Jutka: I try to translate light, emotions, political and social ideas into experiences and concepts, inviting the viewer to reflect, engage in dialogue, change, education, and perhaps… joy.

C&B: If we look at the narrative thread of your career or business, what were the defining moments?
Nicole Jutka: The defining moments were the exhibitions in museums, then the collateral shows at the Venice Biennale and Art Basel Miami, as well as the launch of Nicole Jutka Gallery—a platform where I combine my own creations with supporting emerging artists. Collaborating with prestigious cultural institutions and being involved in educational projects for children and vulnerable communities helped shape my artistic direction: art as a tool for peace, healing, education—art as a silent voice.

C&B: What has been the most challenging moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Nicole Jutka: The most difficult moment was during the pandemic when everything seemed suspended. I transformed isolation into a space for introspection and creation, working on the PRAY LOVE PEACE project, which has since been and will continue to be presented in international exhibitions, becoming a platform for intercultural dialogue—an important message in today’s world.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Nicole Jutka: Yes, my dream is to create bridges through art between people and cultures, to give a voice to those who are unheard, and to leave the world a little better through educational projects and socially impactful exhibitions.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve evolved?
Nicole Jutka: In the beginning, I was a dreamy artist with a rebellious and curious energy. Then, with the arrival of my two sons, my artistic activity gradually grew alongside them. Today, I feel more grounded, more aware of the power of art as a tool for change. I’ve shifted from creating just for myself to creating for communities, for dialogue, and for education.

C&B: If we met your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Nicole Jutka: I think they would say that I’m a catalyst for ideas, a passionate and determined person who inspires trust and sees potential where others see only obstacles.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Nicole Jutka: The decision to return, after 35 years in Germany, with artistic and educational projects in Romania, laying the foundations of Nicole Jutka Gallery and the Part of World Association, which open new perspectives for me, contemporary art, and cultural dialogue. The place where I grew up—Bucharest—calls me back with a deep longing for the roots where I was born.

C&B: How did you develop your leadership style or decision-making process? Was it natural or learned?
Nicole Jutka: It was a natural process, but also shaped by international experiences and contact with diverse teams. As an art educator, I’ve learned to listen, to manage, to organize, to create space for others’ ideas—blending my personal vision with authentic collaboration.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which moments bring you the most satisfaction?
Nicole Jutka: A typical day begins with research and drawing, followed by studio work or project planning. I enjoy walking in the park, meeting friends, and playing tennis. The greatest satisfactions come from moments of pure creation, artistic flow, and encounters with people who let themselves be inspired by art. However, my greatest joy is the happiness and fulfillment of my children. They are the most beautiful creation in my life, and for that, I thank God.

C&B: What values or principles guide your work, and how do you apply them in daily life?
Nicole Jutka: Authenticity, seriousness, respect for culture and nature, education through art, and generosity. I strive to integrate them into everything I do—whether it’s a painting, a performance, or an educational project.

C&B: How did the idea come about to start this business and give it this name?
Nicole Jutka: Nicole Jutka Gallery bears my name because it represents both my own creations and the universe of artists I support. The idea came during the pandemic, from the desire to create an independent, international platform where art is free and bold. Since the locations are in apartments, a cozy atmosphere is created, but I hope to receive support in Romania to open a space in Bucharest where I can also develop educational work.

C&B: If you could send a message to people following in your footsteps, what would it be?
Nicole Jutka: Never give up on your inner voice and on authenticity, because art—and any form of creativity—is most powerful when it comes from truth and from a desire to make the world a better place.

Nicole Jutka continues to build bridges between cultures, inspire through art, and prove that Romanian roots can shine internationally. Her stories are not only heard but felt—in every exhibition, every project, every genuine smile.

Vlad Benescu, a versatile artist blending theatre, dance, and unicycle in a unique performance style, shares his artistic journey and the lessons he’s learned along the way.

Vlad Benescu is a stage artist, specialized and experienced in dance, theatre, performance, circus, light design, and new media technologies.

C&B: If we were to follow a narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Vlad Benescu: My career has been filled with many moments that later defined my direction, and with many synchronicities that significantly influenced or changed my path. The first was during high school when someone came and said they were offering an acting course at the Ion Creangă Theatre, which I attended for two years. Then came the encounter with the unicycle, one of the talents that sets me apart in the acting and performance field. It was a coincidence — during one of my high school jobs, working as an entertainer and balloon seller on the promenade in Mamaia, someone showed up with a unicycle in the apartment I was staying in. We struggled to learn it together, but I picked it up very quickly — after four days I was riding 50 meters, then 100, then 200, and from the next day I could ride it anywhere. Then, in theatre school, someone invited me into a contemporary dance performance with Ștefan Lupu and choreography by Galea Bobeicu. From there, a fruitful dance career started to develop, in parallel with my acting path. In 2016, I went to a casting at WASP for a show by Valentina de Piante, which was later selected for the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna. That was where I experienced contemporary dance and performance at the highest level. More recently, the collaboration with Alexandra Mihaela Dancs has been very impactful — we constantly develop diverse projects that are presented in increasingly varied contexts, on important stages and cultural venues.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Vlad Benescu: There was a moment in 2016 when I didn’t get a theatre role, and it made me doubt many things. But I kept working, and then came even more important projects that I might not have been able to do fully, or with full involvement, if I had been split between too many places. Actually, difficult moments are constant — sometimes artistic, other times technical — and I always find solutions. That’s my secret: when a problem appears, my brain immediately focuses on solutions, and I go straight into action.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, no matter the obstacles?
Vlad Benescu: Yes — I love what I do, and I work constantly on that. I truly enjoy offering people experiences of joy, provoking their imagination, reasoning, and senses.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed over time?
Vlad Benescu: At the beginning, I wanted a lot and understood little. Now I still want a lot, but I understand quite a bit more.

C&B: If we were to talk to your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Vlad Benescu: They’d probably say that I’m someone it’s hard to have a conflict with. I don’t understand conflict — I don’t see its potential or purpose — and I’m almost always in a good mood. Sometimes I seem to be “all over the place,” meaning chaotic, but in fact I control that dynamic. And they’d probably wonder where I get all my energy from.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Vlad Benescu: The most important decision was to follow this path and then to keep choosing, again and again, that this is what I’m meant to do.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or decision-making approach? Was it a natural process or something you learned?
Vlad Benescu: The answer is, of course, both. I’ve constantly absorbed knowledge from others in this area, but I’ve always adapted it. I can rarely align with something that’s pre-made — I need to filter it through my own lens and take it to the potential and format that satisfy me.

C&B: What do you think sets your business or professional approach apart from the rest of the industry?
Vlad Benescu: I think it’s the fact that I’m always interested in innovating and evolving in my artistic endeavors. I don’t stick to a trendy aesthetic. And I bring together a wide variety of skills. It’s rare to see acting combined with dance, circus, and technology.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which parts of your day bring the most satisfaction?
Vlad Benescu: Usually, I have to do a lot of things and find ways to make it physically feasible to achieve them. If it’s temporally possible to do something, I will always squeeze it into the schedule. I probably have an atypical way of managing my time, though to me it seems logical and natural. My days are very varied — I’m not a fan of routine. The only constant is movement. I move a lot, whether through my activities or through constant training in various movement methods. I’m passionate about somatic movement, and sometimes I practice it during other activities to overlap and optimize the learning and development process.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in your work, and how do you apply them day to day?
Vlad Benescu: You can reach anywhere, but you have to go through the process. There’s no such thing as “too hard” — especially if we can see that something similar has been done before. That means there are ways to achieve those performances or that knowledge.

C&B: How did the idea come to start this business and give it this name?
Vlad Benescu: I don’t have a business — I’m, as one of my theatre professors used to say, an employee of my own institution. I work tirelessly and diligently at the Vlad Benescu Institution. I want it to succeed and stand out in the cultural and experiential space in which it operates.

C&B: If you were to share a message with people who follow your example, what would it be?
Vlad Benescu: Work, observe, think, enjoy, and maybe get tired — but keep working or researching what interests you. If your physical energy is low, there’s still something stored cognitively. Keep going. Don’t waste time on indecision — act, and you’ll become convinced whether the imagined direction is right or not.

Vlad Benescu’s story reminds us that art knows no boundaries, and the courage to explore new forms of expression can lead to unforgettable creations. With every project, Vlad affirms his authenticity and his desire to inspire through movement, emotion, and stage presence.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in one sentence, so as to pique the curiosity of those who don’t know you yet?

Alexandra Catrangiu: I am a lover of beauty and seek it in all its forms—in art, in fashion, in the colors of nature, in the beautiful and valuable people around me, in all the little details that surround us, because life is made of the small things that bring joy to life. A combination of strength and sensitivity, because I am a person who lives moments intensely, who brings emotion to loved ones, but I can lose myself in front of life when it thrusts me into its abyss, when ugliness takes hold of humanity, when non-values are elevated to the rank of art.
I hope that through the emotion I bring to the women who “dress me,” I light up where the window has been closed by its shutter, through custom‑made creations manufactured right in the atelier that bears my name.

C&B: If we were to trace a narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?

Alexandra Catrangiu: Life is a surprise, and I always have my arms wide open to receive what the Universe has kindly prepared for me. I am like a child waiting to open a gift every morning when I open my eyes, working every day towards my dream.
If I had to choose a few key moments, perhaps it would be participating in the international Feeric Fashion Week, which brought me international exposure, and also the launch of my most recent collection—Lumineuse—at an event held at the Romanian Embassy in London.
But beyond the applause on large stages, it’s the embraces of the women who cross my threshold and the messages I receive amid those events—such as “I feel so beautiful and special, thank you!”—that define my career and soul.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?

Alexandra Catrangiu: In an artist’s life there are always ups and downs. In a market overwhelmed by mass-market clothes and fast fashion, it is hard for creators to stay on top, especially those who always choose quality and finely crafted work. When suppliers also reduce their quality, it becomes a constant search for raw materials to maintain standards. But successes bring greater satisfaction when we maintain our line and don’t get lost in the multitude around us.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has guided you always, regardless of obstacles?

Alexandra Catrangiu: The emotions and tears I have shared with the ladies in my studio have fueled my dream every day. Because it’s not about the dress, nor the material, nor the design—but about the feeling it accompanies them with, perhaps on the happiest day of their life, and the joy they leave in me. These dreams confirm that I am doing well and beautifully what I do. It’s like nourishment for the soul—a dependence.

C&B: What did you look like at the beginning of the journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed so far?

Alexandra Catrangiu: I did not start the project as a business, but from a very deep love for fashion and art. I knew almost nothing about business planning, marketing, or budgets. I began with a second‑hand industrial sewing machine, with some classes taken for my heart, and then others in styling, luxury marketing, and I won’t stop here.
Because knowledge is what guides me in life, and I believe it’s always about ascending. I don’t know where, but intuition, work ethic, and the desire to bring femininity back into the clothes we wear—I know they will guide me to the places where I belong.

C&B: If we met your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Alexandra Catrangiu: Everyone I have collaborated with has become my friend, part of my heart. I have met dedicated people with whom I shared the same beautiful and upright values; that united us, and from that chemistry the most beautiful projects were born. Because I am someone who can only work heart to heart.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?

Alexandra Catrangiu: Probably when I changed the marketing and PR team. Because they are people who work for themselves, through you—and professionals who have the desire to showcase you and your business, who understand beyond “celebrity culture” what advertising really means, who know that beyond a fashion presentation, it’s about the work of each person in their own piece, without escalating egos.

C&B: How have you built your leadership style or decision‑making approach? Was it natural or learned?

Alexandra Catrangiu: I learned in small steps and from experiences over the years what worked and what didn’t. After each project, I drew the necessary conclusions to improve things. Evolution is at the base of my story, and I believe each year has brought new lessons that I took and placed in the drawer of my story.

C&B: What do you believe differentiates your business or professional approach from the rest of the industry?

Alexandra Catrangiu: In my city, I introduced a new concept—a fashion house as it used to be, where women came and had clothes made to order, customized, with consulting and stories over coffee and to the background of good music—about style, good taste, and quality. About producing a dress or suit made exactly to their shape, because each of us is unique, with our own fine particulars, about highlighting our fine qualities.
At Alexandra Catrangiu Studio, each piece bears the imprint of the client, high‑quality materials, hand‑sewn stitches, delicate lace for lovers of delicacy.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?

Alexandra Catrangiu: No day is like another, because the day starts very early in the studio—with plans and new projects, shootings and creative stories with my team, fittings with clients, sketching new collections, or maybe even being the protagonist of my personal shootings.
The latter, I believe, brings me the greatest satisfaction, because there I can let my imagination and creativity run free; there I take the pen and write beautiful stories that I hope will stay in people’s hearts over time. I love giving emotion to people.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them every day?

Alexandra Catrangiu: I was raised in a principled family, where common sense had priority before any interest. Elegance, good taste, moderation, a sense of measure, respect for those around me and for the work of people near me, joy, altruism, and love—all of these are at my foundation; I feed them every day of my life in this incarnation, and everything I do must be in line with my values. I don’t know and don’t want to live otherwise.

C&B: How did the idea of starting this business and giving it this name come to you?

Alexandra Catrangiu: This business was born from my love for old‑time femininity, for fashion worn with grace—to give women before me the knowledge I gained, to bring a smile and beauty to their faces, for the emotions I cried along with each bride I embraced and for whom I became part of her love story. It’s not a business; it’s a story written day by day, a feeling that lasts over time.
Also from devotion was born another of my projects—an educational segment on Radio Prahova under my signature “Dress to Impress,” where I prepare weekly advice on style and good manners. It’s like a gift I give listeners each week—a gift I give with the same joy.

C&B: If you were to send a message to people who follow your example, what would that be?

Alexandra Catrangiu: Believe in your dreams; work day by day for them, without colossal expectations.
Eliminate profit from the equation, at least in the beginning; do everything with and only from passion, and let at the foundation be just devotion. Because that flows in the Universe—devotion from heart to heart, to another heart It’s not easy, but it’s extremely beautiful, and at the end of the day, the ringing of the heart is all that matters.

Alexandra Catrangiu is living proof that true elegance springs from the courage to create. With a distinctive aesthetic and a clear mission, the designer continues to inspire women to express their personality through clothes with identity and refinement.

Interview with Daniel Deaconu on creativity, innovation, and the entrepreneurial journey in Romania. A story of vision, perseverance, and authentic leadership.

Daniel Deaconu is the founder of the marketing agency The Simplifier. Daniel became an entrepreneur at the age of 22 when he founded Curățenie Profi, a company he expanded nationally in Romania. After 11 years, he sold the cleaning company and became a sales and marketing consultant for software companies. For the past 2 years, he has been developing The Simplifier agency, which currently serves clients from 7 countries on 3 continents.

C&B: Looking at the narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Daniel Deaconu: Ever since high school, I wanted to have my own business. I saw how hard my parents worked and how they never had time to spend with us. So I told myself that there had to be another way. I decided that after finishing high school and university, I would start a business that would make me a lot of money and give me freedom.
At 22, I started my first company, but reality in the field was completely different. There was money, but no trace of freedom, at least in the early years.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Daniel Deaconu: I started Curățenie Profi in 2009. By 2011, we had reached 100 employees. The hardest moment came in 2012 when we dropped from 100 employees to just 4 and narrowly avoided bankruptcy. It was an extremely difficult time, but God helped me, and after nearly 2 years I recovered and began rebuilding. This time more strategically, more calmly, and with much healthier risk management. If in the first 2 years we grew locally in Constanța, now I was building a national brand, present in 6 cities—growth was slower, but much healthier.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Daniel Deaconu: I’ve always wanted to be free. To earn a living by doing what I love. To work with people I like, not because I’m forced to. And I’ve always wanted to bring something valuable into others’ lives. That’s what guides me every day.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed over time?
Daniel Deaconu: In the beginning, I was very enthusiastic and knew nothing. For the first contracts I signed, I showed up in a T-shirt, shorts, and beach flip-flops. But I was very motivated to work, and people could sense that. As I gained experience, the enthusiasm faded a bit because I realized how hard it really is.
Now, after 16 years of entrepreneurship, I’ve regained that original enthusiasm because I’m finally doing something I love, that I identify with, and that brings real value to others.

C&B: If we spoke to your team or collaborators, what would they say about you?
Daniel Deaconu: My colleagues and collaborators would say that I always keep my word. That’s one of my core values. You’re worth as much as your word is worth.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Daniel Deaconu: One of the most important decisions was selling the cleaning company. I sold it in 2019, after our best year. But I did it because I wanted to switch industries and build a company that was easier to scale. Now, from a single office, we work with clients in 7 countries. That would have been impossible in the old business.

C&B: How did you develop your leadership style or decision-making process? Was it natural or learned?
Daniel Deaconu: I believe there are born leaders, but I don’t consider myself one. However, I know that everything can be learned. In my case, it was step by step. I made a lot of mistakes and learned from each. I fell many times, but the question isn’t “if you fall?”, it’s “what do you do when you fall?”—do you stay down and pity yourself, or do you get up and move forward?

C&B: What sets your business or professional approach apart from the rest of the industry?
Daniel Deaconu: Authenticity and creativity. I only work with software companies, with very smart people developing highly advanced technologies that can automate almost anything. But the only things that cannot be automated are creativity and building authentic human relationships. You can’t use AI to build a genuine business relationship. And when everyone around us is trying to automate everything, we stand out by investing a lot of energy in building authentic, long-lasting human relationships.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Daniel Deaconu: The first thing I do after I wake up is go for a run. Then I spend a bit of time with my daughters. We have 3 girls—11, 6, and 3 years old. I try to spend at least a few moments with them every day. The greatest satisfaction is when they say, “Daddy, will you play with us?”. And then I drop everything, take a break, and play with them.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them daily?
Daniel Deaconu: Integrity, courage, and faith. In everything I do—family life, personal life, or business—I follow one simple principle: treat others as I’d like them to treat me. Everything becomes much simpler that way.

C&B: How did the idea for this business and its name come to you?
Daniel Deaconu: The Simplifier came from the simple idea of simplifying complex things. I’m not a technical person, but I work only with technical people. Brilliant individuals who’ve developed very complex software products that solve real needs—but they don’t know how to explain them. That’s where the idea came from: to simplify the message, to translate these complicated technologies into a clear, easy-to-understand form.

C&B: If you were to send a message to people following your example, what would it be?
Daniel Deaconu: Be authentic and treat others exactly the way you’d like to be treated. If we lived guided by these principles every day, I believe our lives would be much simpler, and we’d be much more peaceful and happier.

Through his vision and commitment to quality, Daniel Deaconu continues to shape Romania’s creative industry, inspiring young entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams with professionalism and perseverance.
