Discover the story of Adriana Radu, founder of Start Business Fast, discussing entrepreneurship, coaching, community building, AI in business, and the strategies that help coaches, therapists, and solopreneurs build sustainable businesses.

Adriana Radu, founder of Start Business Fast, is a digital business mentor, community architect, and former Human Resources Director in multinational companies such as Coca-Cola, Henkel, Leoni, and Ixia, with more than 25 years of experience in leadership and people development. Twelve years ago, she began her entrepreneurial journey, offering consulting, coaching, and mentoring services. For the past five years, she has been dedicated to helping coaches, therapists, and solopreneurs transform their expertise into sustainable businesses built on community, strategic marketing, and AI integration through mentoring programs, entrepreneurial education, and projects designed for women over 40 undergoing professional transitions.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence to capture the attention of someone who doesn’t know you?

Adriana: I am a digital business mentor and community architect, helping coaches, therapists, and solopreneurs build sustainable businesses based on community, relationships, and systems—not on virality and quick-fix promises.

C&B: Looking back, what is the “common thread” that has guided your professional journey?

Adriana: If I had to give my life a title, it would be “adaptation.” It’s the word that helped me succeed throughout my life, even before I realized it.

I was born during the communist era, and when the Revolution came, I had already been working as a nurse for six years. In 1990, I had an accident that eventually led me to spend 11 years abroad. I found myself in France without speaking the language and had to adapt very quickly, learn French, continue my studies, and later move to England, where I completed my university education.

The common thread behind all my decisions has been doing things that align with who I am and what feels right for me. You cannot achieve success without enjoying what you do. Sometimes that meant leaving certain environments when I felt they no longer represented me.

Every role and job I have had was chosen because I loved the work itself—from being a nurse, to working in a call center for IBM in Scotland, to executive search, human resources, consulting, startup mentoring, and later business coaching.

I have always chosen jobs where I could care for people, make an impact, and be part of the solution. I have always enjoyed testing new things, embracing challenges, and finding solutions. That mindset has kept me energized and continuously excited about life and what I am building.

C&B: What was a difficult moment or failure that truly changed you?

Adriana: A moment that completely changed my life was the accident in 1990, which essentially forced me to rebuild my life in a completely new context. I had to adapt quickly in a foreign country without speaking the language, without familiar references, and without security.

In business, one of the most important lessons was realizing that being successful with people is not the same as building a sustainable business. For many years, I saw extraordinary experts who could not turn their expertise into a predictable business system.

I also made significant mistakes. For example, I accepted clients in the past who were not aligned with my values and way of working simply because the projects were financially attractive. At one point, I even walked away from a very large project because I realized there was no alignment between the company’s values and the way my team worked.

I learned that when you accept people or projects that are not aligned with you, problems inevitably arise. It was a powerful lesson about integrity and the importance of respecting your own values and boundaries.

C&B: What is a courageous (or counterintuitive) decision that significantly influenced your trajectory?

Adriana: One of the bravest decisions I made was leaving the corporate world at the age of 47 after spending 15 years in leadership positions at companies such as Coca-Cola, Henkel, Leoni, and Ixia.

I left behind:

Financial stability

Benefits

Security

An executive position

At that time, it was a highly risky move and very few people would have made it. I chose to create my own HR consulting company and later evolved into career coaching and business mentoring.

Another counterintuitive decision was giving up a very high-ticket product that allowed me to work with only a few clients and instead creating a more accessible program called Client Magnet.

I integrated into that program:

Multiple mentors

AI

Community

A completely different working model

I made this change because my goal was to reach as many solopreneurs as possible and help them build stable businesses.

Another important decision was building a team before having the financial comfort I thought I needed. I realized that if I wanted to grow, I had to create the framework first, and the clients and results would follow.

I also realized that clients need certainty, not just promises. That’s why we introduced the guarantee: “100 potential clients in your community, or we pay the difference in advertising costs.” No agency or business and marketing education program in Romania guarantees results. We do, because we have the experience of working with more than 200 clients and know it is achievable when our system is applied.

C&B: How have you changed over time as a leader and professional?

Adriana: I believe my biggest transformation as a leader happened when I moved from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur.

In the corporate world, things were simpler:

You had structure

A board

Colleagues

Support

Validation

People to make decisions with

As an entrepreneur, I had to make all decisions myself:

Investments

Expenses

Strategy

Risk

People

Team building

Over the past five years, I have learned to detach from outcomes while remaining obsessed with the goal. I know exactly who I want to become and where I want to go, but I no longer allow emotions to control me when difficulties, crises, or unexpected results appear.

I have learned to make decisions from my future identity rather than from my present limitations.

For example, I chose to build a team before achieving the financial results that would have made me feel completely comfortable. I realized that growth requires creating the structure first.

I have also learned that people do not share the same dreams I do. This was something I observed even in corporate environments, where employees did not necessarily resonate with company slogans. Everyone has their own motivations and goals, and my role as a leader is to understand what drives them and create a space where they can grow.

C&B: What do you think people who work directly with you say about you beyond your public image?

Adriana: I think people who work with me would say that I am deeply involved and genuinely care about their results.

Clients appreciate that I go far beyond what is written in a contract and support them not only strategically but also emotionally during difficult moments.

Very often, it’s not just about marketing or business. It’s about the person behind the business:

Emotional blocks

Anxiety

Lack of confidence

Burnout

And I am there for them in those moments as well.

At the same time, I am very direct and hold people accountable. If they have important tasks and avoid taking action, I step in and address it. Some clients forget to publish content or send information to the team, which slows down implementation. In those moments, I make sure accountability remains in place.

My team appreciates the freedom I give them and the fact that I encourage their ideas. One challenge, however, is the speed at which I think and make decisions. I have been told that I need to be more patient and explain things more clearly.

With suppliers and partners, I look for relationships built on shared values and the same commitment to delivering quality work. For example, the marketing agency I work with has become a true partner over time rather than simply a service provider.

C&B: What truly differentiates you in the way you build or lead?

Adriana: My business model is built on community and relationships, not on virality. I strongly believe in what I call slow marketing.

I am not interested solely in visibility and likes. I believe that if you have 50 people who are genuinely interested in what you do, you can build a business much faster than if you have 4,000 followers who are not truly connected to you.

Many clients have told me:

“I have a Facebook group with 12,000 members, and it’s completely inactive.”

To me, that proves that numbers don’t matter as much as relationships and community.

My community exists through:

WhatsApp

Email databases

Dedicated groups

Over the last three years, I have noticed a clear migration from social media toward WhatsApp and Telegram groups because communication there is more authentic and allows you to better understand what people actually want.

Another differentiator is that I listen carefully to people and build based on their real needs rather than trends or marketing formulas. Because I work extensively with therapists and coaches, I also use what I call energetic marketing, which communicates the energy and vibration from which each person operates.

C&B: How has today’s environment (technology, AI, economy) changed the way you work?

Adriana: I believe that regardless of economic crises or major changes, people’s problems remain the same. As long as you listen and provide real solutions, your business can continue growing.

My business has grown by an average of at least 20% per year over the past few years.

However, AI and technology have transformed the way I work.

When ChatGPT appeared about three years ago, I was initially skeptical. Very quickly, though, I understood its potential and believe I was among the first to create an AI assistant specifically for solopreneurs called AiRA.

Today, we use AI for:

Procedures

Invoicing

Automation

Market research

Landing pages

Strategy development

Information structuring

Content creation

For example, we use:

ChatGPT

Perplexity

Manus

AI agents

With Manus, we can take information from podcasts and automatically transform it into materials for our community without anyone on the team needing programming skills.

AI has significantly reduced both time and costs, allowing us to focus more on strategy and human relationships.

C&B: Is there a habit or routine that has significantly influenced your performance?

Adriana: Over the past two years, I have worked extensively with the concept of a future identity, inspired by my mentor in the United States, Arash Vossoughi.

I believe you cannot achieve different results using the same beliefs and habits that brought you only this far.

My daily routine starts with gratitude and self-suggestion.

Every morning, I write down what I am grateful for and use affirmations that connect me to the person I want to become.

One of my affirmations is:

“I act quickly based on intuition.”

Throughout the day, my phone rings every three hours, reminding me to reconnect with my goals and future identity.

In the evening, I review whether my decisions came from my comfort zone or from the future I want to create.

This process has helped me become:

Calmer

Clearer

More emotionally detached

Less reactive in my decision-making

My second mentor, Silvia Tackacs, supported my emotional and spiritual growth alongside my mental development. Meditation and breathing practices help me reconnect with myself and remain calm when facing daily challenges. We cannot stop or control every challenge, but we can control how we respond and how we feel. For an entrepreneur, making decisions emotionally can be very costly.

Every evening, I plan the actions for the next day. Without a clear plan, I risk being distracted by unexpected urgencies. Focus is essential for creating tangible results.

C&B: What principles guide your most important decisions?

Adriana: Integrity and respect are essential for me.

I no longer accept projects or partnerships that are not aligned with my values, even if they could generate significant income.

One concrete example was walking away from a major project because I felt the client was not aligned with our way of working or our team values.

Another principle is making decisions from my future identity rather than from present limitations.

I rely heavily on intuition and have learned to trust those moments when a decision feels aligned, even if I do not yet have all the logical evidence.

A good example was abandoning the high-ticket model and creating the more accessible and scalable Client Magnet program, integrating mentors and AI to reach and support more people.

C&B: How do you see your industry evolving over the next three to five years?

Adriana: Last year, I conducted a study on trends in the coaching and therapy industry and found a global market estimated at approximately $7.3 billion, with annual growth of around 17% over the past three years. This is not surprising considering the rapid economic, technological, and social changes people are experiencing worldwide, which increase the need for support during periods of transition and transformation.

The number of active coaches and therapists has grown exponentially, reaching approximately 167,300 professionals globally by the end of last year.

I believe that in the next three to five years we will see:

Greater differentiation between specialized professionals with proven results and generalists without strong brands

Increased micro-niching

Deep AI integration

Business ecosystems that combine multiple disciplines such as psychiatry, psychology, nutrition, and alternative therapies like hypnotherapy

Being a generic “life coach” will no longer be enough. Growing niches will include:

Burnout

Chronic stress

Career resets

Financial stress

Digital stress

Career transitions

Founder coaching

Wellbeing

Women’s leadership

We will also see a clear separation between:

Serious practitioners focused on measurable results

Those who rely solely on noise and virality

A successful practitioner in the next three to five years will likely have a business model that includes:

A community

An app and/or program based on their methodology

Subscription models that generate recurring revenue and offer a structured transformation journey

A primary educational channel with a monetization strategy (YouTube, TikTok, etc.)

AI will evolve from being a content creator to becoming a true co-pilot that:

Analyzes

Structures

Suggests interventions

Monitors progress

We will also see the growing importance of applications in both coaching and therapy. These apps will offer guided pathways that move users from self-help to hybrid programs and eventually personalized support.

In Romania, I believe the market will almost double within the next five years, especially in:

Corporate wellbeing

Digital programs

Coaching integrated with mental health

Coaching for Generation Z and Generation Alpha

Companies will increasingly develop coaching skills among managers while also integrating external coaches, coaching platforms, and microlearning programs.

C&B: What role do you aim to play in this evolution?

Adriana: My goal is to help coaches, therapists, and solopreneurs become true entrepreneurs who build sustainable businesses instead of relying solely on referrals.

The reality is that approximately 90% of them struggle to earn a living from what they do, while only about 10% manage to build stable businesses.

This year, I applied for a European-funded project through which I am creating a business academy dedicated to women over 40 in the early years of entrepreneurship.

The program will include:

Business

Marketing

Sales

AI

Digitalization

Self-management

Resilience

Personal leadership

The first cohort will include 20 participants and is being developed in partnership with a training company from Italy.

Afterward, the program will be made available free of charge.

C&B: What practical advice would you give someone who wants to build something meaningful today?

Adriana: The first step is to understand very clearly what you are genuinely good at and what you do exceptionally well.

Second, identify a real market problem you can solve and determine who needs that solution.

Third, work with a mentor so you can progress faster.

A solopreneur must build a real business, not just create content or learn algorithms.

They need to master:

Marketing

Sales

Systems

Positioning

Time management

Lead generation

Many people spend three to five years learning through trial and error what they could learn much faster with the guidance of a good mentor.

However, choosing the right mentor is critical.

I strongly believe a mentor should be someone who first built their own successful business in another field, experienced failures along the way, and only then started teaching others how to build businesses.

C&B: What is an uncomfortable truth about your industry that few people talk about?

Adriana: The first uncomfortable truth is that many people in the mentoring and education industry are excellent at marketing but are not truly prepared to support real client transformation.

Social media is full of quick promises:

Clients worth thousands of euros in 90 days

Effortless success

Magic formulas

These approaches may work for someone who is already operating at a very advanced level, but for beginners they are often unrealistic promises.

The second uncomfortable truth is that business is not built solely through numbers and strategy.

There is also a very important emotional and spiritual component.

I strongly believe in what I call the inner thermostat of worthiness—our emotional capacity to receive money, success, and opportunities.

Very few people know how to combine business and marketing with:

Mindset

Emotion

Neuroscience

Personal development

Spirituality

I believe this is one of the real keys to long-term success, and it is something I continuously work on with my clients.

The hair shade that brings you career success: discover how choosing the right color can redefine your image, boost confidence, and support your personal branding in a professional environment.

Give your image a fresh vibe, right before Easter

Hair color has increasingly become a statement of personality. We’re moving beyond aesthetics and into the way we choose to express ourselves. It’s also about courage, self-assumption, and coherence between who we are and how we want to be perceived. In a professional context, this choice becomes an integral part of personal branding: your image says something before you even have the chance to introduce yourself in words.
In a professional career, success also has a visual component. Personal branding studies show that first impressions are processed in less than 7 seconds, so color and personal image play a specific role in how you are perceived as a professional. You simply can’t overlook the details your look communicates.
A fresh, well-defined look becomes a form of visual leadership—it shows that you consciously manage your own identity.

Reinvent yourself in Loncolor style before Easter

LONCOLOR Ultra is a hair coloring range that combines performance with care for your hair. The new season brings two shades inspired by current trends, tones rooted in contemporary aesthetics and the latest fashion color directions, designed to highlight natural beauty and add that subtle glow of confidence: lavender blonde and rose copper blonde.
Spring and the Easter holiday are ideal moments for an image reset. A balanced, elegant shade change can bring that “refresh” you feel not only in the mirror, but also in your attitude.
For active women who juggle daily responsibilities and goals, LONCOLOR Ultra offers the perfect balance between performance and care. The range introduces two new trend-inspired shades, with formulas enriched with almond oil and wheat proteins that protect the hair and restore its shine.

What do the two new shades represent?

Lavender blonde – a delicate, sophisticated shade that conveys calm, clarity, and self-control. It’s the choice of a woman who inspires trust through discretion and balance. Lavender suggests serenity, empathy, and an elegant presence, perfect for the modern business environment.
Rose copper blonde – a warm expression of passion and creative energy. Copper tones and pink reflections add a sense of dynamism, optimism, and courage, suited for leaders who break new ground and embrace transformation as part of growth.

Color as a symbol of transformation

Sometimes, women believe that changing their hair color also brings a shift in their personal journey. It may sound like a superstition, but often a small external transformation can mark a significant internal reorganization.
If you are in a period of professional redefinition—whether you work in a corporation, a growing company, or run your own business—a new color can become an exercise in self-affirmation and motivation. It’s that gesture that says: “I’m here, and I’m ready for the next step.”

Spring, color and courage

At a time when the new economic context may feel discouraging, you can include a new color choice among the steps you take toward your own success. For many years, LONCOLOR has supported the creativity of women in Romania and their desire to experiment with fresh, dynamic looks.

Choosing the right hair shade is not just an aesthetic decision, but a conscious step toward how you present yourself to the world. Whether you go for a sophisticated lavender blonde or an energetic rose copper blonde, each shade tells a story about you. And in your career, sometimes these details make all the difference.

An inspirational interview about the power of personal branding, the impact of strategic communication, and professional transformation through visibility and consistency in the market.

After more than a decade dedicated to strategic communication and reputation management in the corporate environment, Iulia chose to follow her own path and step into entrepreneurship.

Throughout over ten years of activity, Iulia has guided multinational and Romanian entrepreneurial organizations — market leaders — through internal and external communication, employer branding, advocacy, and marketing in highly regulated industries.

With experience gained from working with over 30 brands across more than 10 industries, she has built a reputation for integrating creativity with strategy, strengthening brand positioning, and transforming complex challenges into growth opportunities with real business results.

Beyond her work in communication and marketing, Iulia is a certified trainer and coach, with the ability to turn personal and professional stories into tools for growth and measurable impact.

After supporting organizations and leaders to clarify their messages and strengthen their market reputation, Iulia now helps professionals and entrepreneurs create a coherent career evolution strategy and long-term visibility through personal branding strategy, coaching, and LinkedIn positioning.

C&B: If we look at the narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?

Iulia Rotărescu: The truth is, we never stop writing our story. For as long as I can remember, I have been in continuous exploration. Behind a well-crafted career story lies a personal journey shaped by resilience, healing, and a deep commitment to my own development. Through ownership and courage, I transformed difficulties into clarity and life’s obstacles into essential resources.
I changed my professional trajectory several times, each time with intention and consciously building my next professional milestone. I graduated from a high school that didn’t match my abilities, then studied and worked in politics, advocacy, and government relations, and ultimately specialized in marketing, communication, and public relations — where I have over ten years of experience so far. Each shift was actually a career transition that led me toward roles better aligned with my abilities, passions, and calling. Everything I learned up to a certain point propelled me into a new stage in my career, strengthened my transversal skills, and made me a better, deeper, more complete specialist.
In time, I realized that my experiences and expertise could help other people who need guidance toward a more aligned personal and career path. That’s how I started working in career coaching sessions, offering strategic personal branding consultancy, LinkedIn communication, and storytelling workshops. Today I support those who are ready to take ownership of their career and visibility with courage, offering a rare combination of strategic clarity in career, personal branding vision, and guidance anchored in real experience, learned from my own journey full of challenges.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?

Iulia Rotărescu: I have had a life journey that was at least challenging. My father passed away when I was only five, I went through domestic violence and bullying in a society that blames victims and stigmatizes vulnerable people. I went through depression, anxiety, and insomnia, and what helped me overcome them was education — studying was my anchor in childhood and later my engine in building my career — and the fact that I never stopped fighting for myself. I went to therapy, which taught me to manage my emotions more balanced, to process them, and to work continuously on myself to maintain my wellbeing. Later I discovered coaching as a resource for developing my potential.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?

Iulia Rotărescu: I always dreamed of a successful career. In middle school and high school, I dreamed of becoming a lawyer, and later in university I dreamed of becoming the best specialist in Romania in national security. But resources and dreams don’t always align. In the end, I chose a field of study that motivated and deeply fascinated me, I ended up working in politics, in the office of a deputy, in electoral campaigns, and although I loved it, I felt there was no future for me there. Shortly after, working in the private sector, I understood that success is built “more” meritocratically, and I needed an environment where abilities, work, and competencies dictate the future.

C&B: How did you start out, and how do you feel you have transformed over time?

Iulia Rotărescu: I have always been ambitious and had the courage to do things most people wouldn’t dare to do. I guided myself by the belief that I must act against fear. I was always hardworking, with a strong desire to show the world what I am capable of. What changed with experience and professional validation is the fact that now I no longer want to prove anything to anyone except myself. It’s a much healthier and more balanced mindset. I strengthened my strategic thinking, became confident in my abilities, I follow my ideas, and above all, I believe in my potential and in the potential of the people around me. If at the beginning I was strictly focused on success and results, gradually in recent years I have begun to focus more on people — hence the direction toward personal branding and coaching for visibility and career growth.

C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Iulia Rotărescu: I probably wouldn’t like everything they say, but many things would certainly be true. They would say I am creative, capable, inventive, extremely structured and organized on one hand, but also strict, perfectionistic, authoritative, and that I don’t like losing control. That it’s important to me that things always turn out above expectations, regardless of circumstances, resources, or time. That I am passionate, idealistic, and that I want to achieve the maximum with the resources I have.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?

Iulia Rotărescu: I could mention several: the fact that education has always been my priority, choosing my university — which enriched my general knowledge and understanding of the world we live in — moving to Bucharest, deciding to start therapy, and most recently, choosing to train in coaching — where I am already in my second school. These are certainly turning points in my personal and professional life. And now I feel my life is already taking a new direction, a path that I am building with authenticity, deep presence, and continuous becoming.

C&B: How did you shape your leadership style or the way you make decisions? Was it a natural or learned process?

Iulia Rotărescu: All psychometric and self-awareness tests reflect my natural leadership abilities. But leading doesn’t necessarily mean being a good leader, and I have always been aware of that. My leadership style is still forming — I am searching for it — and I work a lot on myself to become a better leader while keeping my authenticity. It’s easy for me to outline the vision, shape direction, create strategy, and manage objectives, but when it comes to leadership, relationships with people matter the most — how you interact with stakeholders and the atmosphere within the team. And beyond that, the way you influence. Maybe that’s why I love coaching so much: it comes with simple rules — curiosity, listening, presence — the opposite of the traditional corporate environment where you must always be ready with all the answers. In coaching I don’t give solutions or advice, I don’t direct; instead, I trust the person in front of me and their resources to find their own answers through the right questions and reflection in my presence.

C&B: What does “personal brand” mean to you, and what steps do you consider essential for someone who wants to build one?

Iulia Rotărescu: Personal brand is who we are, how we behave, the perception others have of us, and what we intentionally and consciously choose to make visible about ourselves. Building a personal brand is a deep process of self-knowledge, defining mission and vision, identifying values, clarifying and deciding on the important aspects that give us direction in life and career. Once we clarify these and build the personal branding strategy, the next step is deciding how we communicate these things to others — to our target audience or clients.
Personal brand is created continuously through the perception others have of us, both online and offline, through our reputation, our conscious actions and behaviors, and even our unintentional ones.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what moments bring you the most satisfaction?

Iulia Rotărescu: My objective is always to achieve the maximum with the resources I have while also offering myself wellbeing, time to recharge, and care for myself. With time, I realize more and more how important it is to spend quality time with myself: to reflect, rest, and do activities that make me feel good. I plan, prepare, and double-check my agenda and activities for the next day every evening, and in the morning I take some time for stretching or meditation for a few minutes. Then I am present in several coaching sessions where we explore the client’s career direction or professional objectives, which gives me fulfillment. Afterwards, I work on clients’ personal branding strategies, helping them increase their visibility. I end the day with a movie, a book, coloring, or exploring any other passion that brings me joy.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them daily?

Iulia Rotărescu: I believe in authenticity, perspective, communication, courage, freedom, and ownership. I am who I say I am, and I support my clients in discovering what is true for them. Through the coaching, storytelling, and personal branding programs I create, I bring new perspectives and profound meanings that generate new insights and clear action directions. Through communication I generate growth, develop myself, take ownership of who I am, make my story visible to the world, and help my clients achieve the same. I am courageous in the way I act, communicate with vulnerability, and live my life with depth. At the same time, through my direct and assertive approach, through honesty and grounding in reality, I am a partner for those who want to act despite fear.
I have a very fine compass that shows me direction. When I feel something is wrong, I check which of my values are being violated or which values I haven’t been honoring. The way I feel is a clear indicator that guides me toward living my values. I believe in the freedom of an exploratory space where you can clarify your voice and rewrite or build from scratch a personal story that reflects who you truly are. Real, authentic growth comes when you do what you feel, even when you are afraid.

C&B: What are the most common blocks you notice in the people you coach, and how do you help them overcome them?

Iulia Rotărescu: Lack of clarity about the career direction to follow, the feeling that they have nothing valuable to offer, fear of change, lack of awareness of strengths and internal resources they can use for professional growth or transition, lack of awareness of transversal skills that can be transferred from one industry to another or from one profession to another.
Coaching involves working with clear, measurable, achievable, SMART objectives, as we like to say in corporations. The willingness to explore and reflect is the most important step and must come from the client. From that decision, change, clarity, and goal achievement begin. That is the key that opens the door to courage.
Afterwards, through internationally validated tools, psychometric tests, deep discussions, and practical exercises, we explore the client’s resources, strengths, and the direction they want to pursue. We set the long-term goal and begin building the growth or transition strategy. Each coaching session brings us closer to the goal, ensuring it is achievable and aligned with the client’s mission, identity, and environment.

C&B: What can personal branding do for an entrepreneur or expert who wants to be recognized in the market?

Iulia Rotărescu: It’s amazing what personal branding can do for an entrepreneur or expert who wants to position themselves and be recognized in the market. Through continuous communication and media exposure, a person can go from being completely unknown to becoming a public figure with tens of thousands of followers on social media and dozens of appearances in online press and TV shows. What matters most is the story behind it — who you are as a person, your life story, your professional experience, what makes you unique, the value you bring to the world — and the consistency with which you build your public image. What I can say is that the impact and results of building a strategic and coherent personal brand go beyond imagination.

As Iulia Rotărescu highlights, the difference between an invisible professional and one who is recognized in their industry lies in how they tell their story, in their consistency, and in their ability to deliver real value.

Discover the story of Dana Tudor – consultant, coach, and founder of Chic-Elite.ro – and her journey from media to women’s leadership.

Dana Tudor, communication consultant and coach, journalist, entrepreneur. “What are we building this year?” No, she is not a house builder, but a communication project builder, and this is one of the big questions that has followed her since she began her professional life. “Is it time to say that yes, I know this field, after 30 years in media and communication?” is another. Dana Tudor is a communication consultant and coach, founder of Chic-Elite.ro, the female leadership platform. She launched Eva.ro, was editor-in-chief of Cariere magazine and in 2010 founded the Buticul de Inspirație agency. Alongside some of the best professionals on the market in their field, the agency responds quickly, with concrete solutions (Dana calls them “braincrafts”), to companies, brands and leaders who want to amplify their unique voice.

C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Dana Tudor: Looking back, I realize that the projects that define my professional path have often been in the area of pioneering and building projects. I stubbornly took the entrance exam to the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations, recently established at the University of Bucharest. It was a field that 30 years ago, only a few people and a handful of DCRP-ists, as we, the students of this faculty, proudly called ourselves, had heard of.

Next came HR. Well, when my publisher at the time told me, around the early 2000s, that I would be in charge of the HR column of Biz magazine (the first business “glossy” in Romania), a lump stopped in my throat: I didn’t even know what he was talking about, much less what topics related to this field would be of interest. How many knew what HR was? I started writing about human resources, education and leadership, and audience data would show that it was one of the most read columns of the magazine. It is a field that I have remained close to to this day, thanks to the clients and projects I had.

The same publisher proposed that I take care of, in parallel with the column I had at Biz magazine, the launch and coordination of an internet project, the first website in Romania dedicated to women: Eva.ro. This was where the greatest investment of energy and soul was. We went to meetings, talked about the online environment, newsletters, interactivity, things that are now commonplace, but which at the time were something exotic, at best, and often misunderstood. Eva.ro would become one of the first brands in the Romanian online world and, in all the 7 years that I was the project manager of the site, it was in first place in terms of traffic, in the category of sites dedicated to women.

In the summer of 2010, I entered entrepreneurship, founding the communication agency Buticul de Inspirație. At that time, we were again discussing terms rarely used in the business environment, which are very fashionable today, such as personal brand or thought leadership.

My interest in the field of personal development materialized in the fall of 2010, when, as editor-in-chief of the magazine Cariere, I coordinated the relaunch process of the publication. And in 2015, I launched the women’s development and leadership website Chic-Elite.ro, together with my high school friend Cristina Lincu, a remarkable and creative writer. And during the pandemic, I made a fascinating journey into the world of coaching, following a consistent training with the high-quality professional and human team of the Coaching Partners school.

C&B: What was the first concrete step in building the Chic Elite brand and community?
Dana Tudor: The discussions with Cristina Lincu, co-founder, also a community creator, after which I chose the name Chic-Elite, I put the structure, the launch campaign on paper, I created the logo and the slogan.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Dana Tudor: Yes. Ambition has been cultivated in me since childhood and is a character trait that has helped me find solutions in the most difficult situations. And indeed, there are dreams that I had that seemed impossible to achieve, but animated with meaning, determination and a lot of work, I saw them become reality, in a way that was perhaps even more fulfilling than I had dared to dream. I started to look more carefully at dreams and dreams, following discussions with Ana Maria Ștefănescu, a former high school classmate, the first certified Dream Teacher in Romania, currently a Master Dream Teacher.

C&B: What did you look like at the beginning of the journey and how do you feel you have transformed yourself so far?

Dana Tudor: I was a teenager with a lot of energy, enthusiasm and ambition, without realizing what valuable resources they are. At school we are evaluated by how well we know the lesson, not at all by our personality and the value we bring to the environment we are in. How helpful it would be to have as many benchmarks related to idour entity, at the beginning of the journey, don’t you think?

In the meantime, I learned to manage these resources more carefully and to value them. Added to this was the experience of working with many people and exposure to diverse situations, which come with the ability to “read” certain everyday situations relatively quickly, which sometimes gives a minus to enthusiasm, but a plus to the ability to listen and understand.

C&B: If we met with your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Dana Tudor: Asking for such feedback is an exercise that I recommend! I still have in my heart the unexpected appreciations that I received from those I worked with.

For this interview, I asked Cristina to answer this question and here’s what I found out: “I’ve known Dana since my teenage years and I can say that, from a professional point of view, we grew up together, later being college and, implicitly, industry colleagues. Thus, our partnership started early, when we were both discovering and perfecting our skills, talents and goals. Dana is, first and foremost, an extremely loyal partner, very well prepared, constantly self-improving and always one step ahead of everyone else, so that unforeseen situations are always defeated when I have her by my side. In fact, I’m lucky because, in addition to an excellent business partner and collaborator – as an example, see the Chic-Elite.ro platform – I have in Dana one of those friends you have for life, a solid point of reference, when everything seems to be chaos around me. She is not only talented, rigorous, a consummate professional, attentive to the last detail, but and because he has a vast personal culture that subtly leaves its mark on each of his projects, which gives him the elegance and refinement that we all seek today, especially when automation and algorithms have somewhat taken over the reins of creativity”.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?

Dana Tudor: There were several. The first was when, at the age of 18, on a window sill in the Casa Presei Libere, on half an A4 sheet – the one that absorbed the ink – I wrote my CV with a pen (far from what we know today about writing a CV). That half a sheet of paper took me to the editorial office of the most widely read newspaper in Romania at the time and from there to one of the most beautiful jobs on earth, according to a forgotten – or ignored? – dream from high school, when in my diary I asked myself “What would it be like to become a journalist?”

C&B: Can you share a moment or feedback that confirmed to you that the project has impact and relevance?
Dana Tudor: Yes, for Chic-Elite we often received feedback that our interviews made people evaluate or become aware of important things for them.

C&B: What do you think differentiates your business or your professional approach from the rest of the industry?
Dana Tudor: If we refer to the Buticul de Inspirăție agency, the approach to communication from a complex perspective – as a communication specialist, journalist and coach. Our clients get 3 in 1 :). We have some of the best people in the industry on our team, in their segment. We are fast, efficient, very good and very serious.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now and what moments of the day bring you the most satisfaction?
Dana Tudor: Some days are for documentation and work in the office, others are in the field, in meetings with clients or at events. The constant (which also comes with the moments of greatest satisfaction) are the interactions with clients, the coaching sessions, the discussions with my daughter, the sports classes and the amusement provided by the antics that the little animals in our yard do, including those that come to visit (hedgehogs, frogs).

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do and how do you apply them every day?

Dana Tudor: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review a values identification report, made by Dan Dițoiu, an exceptional psychotherapist, who works very documented and scientifically, founder of Psycenter. My values are Relevance, Development, Efficiency, Success and Safety. If I feel like I’m not developing, I panic, I’m a “target woman”, as a collaborator once defined me, I look for solutions to achieve maximum results in the most efficient way, and probably due to the thousands of news and articles written and rewritten, it has become second nature to ask myself how relevant a certain information is to one audience or another. That’s why I allowed myself to make a few references in this interview, for those who would like to learn new things, discovering the mentioned experts.

C&B: How was Chic Elite born and what motivated you to launch this project?

Dana Tudor: Before the launch, Chic-Elite was like a baby that cried every day because it wanted to say something to the world. That’s how I gave it a voice, a platform. I’m privileged to meet special people , often modest, who through their passion leave their mark on the world in a way that inspires me so much that I want to hear about them, through the interviews I conduct. I believe that when we have a goal, a disappointment, a bad time, a real story about courage and determination can become a landmark. I believe that landmarks are essential, especially since we are increasingly surrounded by forms without substance, as I discussed in a recent video interview with Ana Maria Ștefănescu.

The interview with Dana Tudor shows us how passion, courage, and perseverance can transform a career into a source of inspiration for others.

Discover Alexandru Negrea’s vision on content, communication, and personal branding in an exclusive interview by Careers & Business magazine.

Alexandru Negrea has been working in online marketing for almost 20 years, building and selling digital products and services for entrepreneurs, companies, and agencies under the name Social Smarts. For the past few years, he has also been a partner in an audio-video production business – Saga Space.

C&B: Looking at the narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Alexandru Negrea: I was quite inspired when Facebook appeared online, and I capitalized on the idea that every company should have a presence on this platform, which brought me significant visibility in a relatively short time. Later, I built the first Facebook marketing and communication course in Romania, with nearly 5,000 graduates today in all its formats (online, offline, live, or pre-recorded). As is often the case, consistency was the most important key in this whole story.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Alexandru Negrea: The beginning of the pandemic was the most difficult moment because Social Smarts relied exclusively on in-person meetings with clients and students, but we adapted relatively quickly and launched some online courses that kept us afloat. Nothing spectacular in the negative or positive sense. Paradoxically, that tough moment for Social Smarts turned out to be a good time to start another business with two partners – a studio for podcasts and video production in general – Saga Space.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Alexandru Negrea: No, nothing like that – it’s a choice I made many years ago: to try out a few entrepreneurial projects instead of getting a job somewhere, without building a spectacular story around that decision.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve changed over time?
Alexandru Negrea: I was irresponsible at the beginning, ignorant, concerned with things that seem unimportant now. Over time, things changed – in the sense that now I think twice when making a decision because I know I can still be irresponsible and ignorant. Let’s say some wisdom and patience have been added along the way, helping me see things more clearly.

C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Alexandru Negrea: There are people I worked very well with and people I didn’t get along with, so opinions would probably be mixed – but I don’t see anything spectacular about that, just a normal path. In the services industry, it’s hard to stay friends with everyone, especially if you’re not willing to make compromises.

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Alexandru Negrea: I don’t have one.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or decision-making process? Was it natural or learned?
Alexandru Negrea: I try to be fair in all decisions with clients and collaborators, making sure no one is at a disadvantage – that’s all that guides me in my work. I don’t know how to define leadership styles, I don’t believe there’s something that clear-cut, and I think the stories described in books are overrated. I might be wrong.

C&B: What do you believe sets your business or professional approach apart from the rest of the industry?
Alexandru Negrea: The differentiating elements of the businesses I’ve been involved in have always been me and my partners, and our honest, direct way of communicating the products and services we sell. We never made unsubstantiated promises, never tried to sell at all costs, never told anyone they’d become an expert after taking a course.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what moments bring you the most satisfaction?
Alexandru Negrea: I go to the office daily for a few hours, answer emails, meet with my colleagues, and try to find ways to keep our businesses functional without making compromises. And it’s getting harder and harder. The rest of the time, I go to clients who need consulting services, and we try to find development solutions for their businesses together.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in your work, and how do you apply them daily?
Alexandru Negrea: I like everything to be fair and beneficial for all parties involved, and I don’t like working based on vague agreements – even though both industries I’m active in have this component.

C&B: How did the idea to start your business and choose its name come about?
Alexandru Negrea: The names of both businesses I’m involved in were chosen after discussions with close people at the beginning (partners, friends, etc.). There’s no spectacular story here either – just pragmatic choices that represent what we do. This simplicity in decision-making is something I strongly believe in.

C&B: If you could send a message to those who follow your example, what would it be?
Alexandru Negrea: Never give up on your principles, because over time, decisions that go against them will frustrate you and make you dislike what you do. A professional life lived only for money, without passion, is a sure path to some states you don’t want to experience.

This interview with Alexandru Negrea offers valuable insights into how strategic communication and authentic content can build strong personal brands.

Discover the professional journey of Adrian Cojocaru, communication specialist and entrepreneur, who transformed his passion for journalism into a successful business, Core Media Hub.

Adrian Cojocaru, communication specialist, journalist, and entrepreneur, founder of Core Media Hub, the kind of person you can call at 2 AM to help you on top of a mountain, but also the one you can ask: “is the project ready?” and he’ll answer: “it’s been ready since yesterday!”

C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career or business, what were the key moments that defined you?
Adrian Cojocaru: I started journalism 18 years ago at a local television station in Timișoara and never dreamed of moving to Bucharest. But the phone rang, and I took the step to the Capital, to Digi24, in 2013. That was a very important moment because it’s where I truly learned what working in television means. From reporter to section coordinator, newsroom coordinator, then TV presenter and almost two years as a radio host at DigiFM. I checked all the boxes. But every step came naturally, built on hard work and sacrifices. That’s how healthy journalism is done!
After 15 years in television, I felt the next natural step was to take all my knowledge about communication and move into entrepreneurship, to put everything I had learned to work for the clients and companies I collaborate with. And look, it’s been 3 years since I launched Core Media Hub, a communication and media production agency, with very good results!

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Adrian Cojocaru: I don’t like using the word “difficult,” so I’ll say the most challenging test I faced was right after I left television and launched the agency. Not because I didn’t know what to do professionally, but because entrepreneurship is a different game, and I had almost no knowledge of it! The first months were about adapting and quickly learning everything about running a business: negotiations, clients, accounting, taxes, employees, etc. You don’t have time to waste, especially when entering an already crowded market like media and communications. But I knew from day one that professionalism would make the difference and earn us a place in the market. And that’s exactly what happened. Every day I try to raise the bar even higher.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Adrian Cojocaru: Yes, in everything I do in life, both personal and professional, I try to give 100%. Sure, you don’t always succeed, but even on bad days or when failure comes, I find peace in knowing I gave my best at that time. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s not a reason for disappointment—it just means I need to learn and do better next time.

C&B: How did you look at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed since then?
Adrian Cojocaru: If we talk about Core Media Hub, when we started, we aimed for a wide range of services: communication, PR, personal branding, photo production, video production, social media management, graphic design, crisis communication. Over time, we’ve specialized more in areas like online and social media communication or photo-video production, which now bring in most of our clients. We aim to perfect those services but also enjoy working on other types of projects. Also, at the beginning, we were 2-3 people, and now we’re a bigger team, with each member suited for their specific role.

C&B: If we met your team or collaborators, what do you think they’d say about you?
Adrian Cojocaru: That I work too much! Just kidding! I think after 3 years, we’ve consistently delivered what we promised, and I hope both our clients and partners are happy. A good sign is that we’re still working with many of them from the beginning. So we must’ve done something right! My colleagues know I’m a perfectionist, but also organized and that they can always count on me!

C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your path?
Adrian Cojocaru: Moving from television to entrepreneurship. It completely changes your life. Entrepreneurship isn’t like in the movies, especially at the beginning. No coffee breaks with feet on the desk or working from the pool. It’s a lot of work, but the satisfaction matches it. So does the responsibility. But I feel I made a healthy decision back then—for me, for my mind, and for my family. I’m keeping a door open to journalism in the future, but for now, I have many “rooms” to explore.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or decision-making process? Was it natural or learned?
Adrian Cojocaru: I’ve learned that it’s not the whip that makes people better professionals, but the support you offer, constructive feedback, and the patience to show them what and how things should be done. People have appreciated that about me. It’s also my way of being: don’t ask before you offer.

C&B: What do you think sets your business or professional approach apart from the rest of the industry?
Adrian Cojocaru: Even though we’re still a young agency, we’ve proven that we deliver quality, professionalism, and punctuality—traits that are increasingly rare. Our team consists of communication, television, and media production specialists, each with 10–15 years of experience, who have proven they deliver what they promise. All our projects have been flawless. We keep the bar high—it’s challenging and a lot of work, but we want to be among the best. And for some honest promotion: we do it at fair prices!

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what parts of your day bring you the most satisfaction?
Adrian Cojocaru: Agency work is intense. Client calls and emails start in the morning and sometimes go into the evening. I begin my day reviewing the agenda, handling admin tasks, working with my team on active projects, or attending business meetings with potential partners. Beyond entrepreneurship, I’m a husband and the father of a young child, and I try to make as much time as possible for my family. Even if the days are packed, we always have a few shared moments during the day or evening when I get home. Some days, I don’t need to be in the studio and can work from home and be close to my girls.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in your work, and how do you apply them daily?
Adrian Cojocaru: Professionalism and dedication! I never stray from those, even when I’m tired or my schedule is overloaded. I always remind myself that people entrusted us with their projects, and we must respect both their trust and their budgets.

C&B: How did the idea of starting this business and its name come about?
Adrian Cojocaru: The idea came in the summer of 2022 when the overload from television had become too much and I needed a change. The name Core Media Hub refers to exactly what we are—a hub for communication, consultancy, and media production services. It defines our “core.”

C&B: If you were to send a message to those who want to follow your example, what would it be?
Adrian Cojocaru: Believe in yourself! Don’t give up if it’s tough at the beginning. Be realistic—the business won’t skyrocket just because you wish for it. Be patient and don’t say STOP until you’ve given it your absolute best! If that still doesn’t work, think about how to reinvent yourself or start again. But never treat it as the end of the world. Failure brings the greatest learning! Success is relative and fleeting!
