Discover the story of Daniel Cîrnu, CEO of Digital Politic, discussing digital marketing, political strategy, AI, leadership, and transforming visibility into measurable influence.

Daniel Cîrnu is the CEO of Digital Politic®, one of the pioneers of digital marketing in Romania, with more than 20 years of experience in the field and over a decade dedicated to political marketing and communication, during which he contributed, as a consultant, to most electoral campaigns in Romania — presidential, parliamentary, and local.

There are people who entered digital when it was already an industry. And then there are people like Daniel Cîrnu, who discovered it when it was still just a promise.

In the early 2000s, in a Romania where the internet was still a curiosity, Daniel was explaining to entrepreneurs why it mattered “to be on Google.” It wasn’t a metaphor — it was literally pioneering work. No case studies, no manuals, no clear benchmarks. Just intuition, experimentation, and a great deal of discipline.

“Back then, there was nowhere to learn from. You made a lot of mistakes, but you learned fast. And most importantly, you saw the results directly — traffic, sales, reactions.”

That was the first major lesson: in digital, everything is measurable. And if you know what to track, you can build predictability.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence to capture the attention of someone who doesn’t know you?

If I had to describe myself in one sentence, I would say this: I’m the person who, for more than 20 years, has been transforming visibility into measurable influence, and in the past decade, I’ve applied the same principles in politics — where well-constructed perception can make the difference between anonymity and votes.

I learned early on that it’s not enough to simply exist online; you need to know how to be seen, by whom, and most importantly, why. I’ve gone through every stage — from Romania’s first digital campaigns, when we were testing without references, to building complex strategies for politicians, where every message matters and every reaction can change the direction of a campaign.

For me, the real differentiator isn’t just experience, but how I use it: I don’t work with assumptions, I work with data; I don’t build image, I build influence; and I don’t pursue visibility alone, but concrete results — whether we’re talking about business or votes.

C&B: Looking back, what is the “red thread” that guided your professional journey?

Looking back, I realize that my entire journey has been built around one thing: understanding human behavior in the digital environment.

I started in the early 2000s, at a time when online marketing in Romania was almost nonexistent. I remember explaining to clients what Google was and why it mattered to be there. It was a period of constant testing, frequent mistakes, and rapid learning.

A second important moment came when I shifted from execution to strategy. It was no longer enough to simply run campaigns — you had to understand why they worked or failed. I started working with data, analyzing behavior, and building processes.

The third defining moment was entering political marketing. It was a major shift. In business, results are measured in sales. In politics, they are measured in trust, perception, and votes. That’s where I truly understood how much it matters not only what you say, but how and when you say it.

The common thread? Curiosity and the desire to understand the mechanisms behind people’s decisions.

C&B: What was a difficult moment or failure that truly changed you?

One of the most important moments was during an e-commerce project where we invested aggressively in paid traffic without having a solid conversion foundation.

We had thousands of daily visitors, but sales were not growing proportionally. Essentially, we were burning budget without efficiency. The losses were significant — tens of thousands of euros in a relatively short period.

It was a difficult moment, but extremely valuable. I learned that it doesn’t matter how much traffic you have, but what you do with it. Since then, I never scale anything before it works on a small scale.

C&B: What is a courageous (or counterintuitive) decision that significantly influenced your trajectory?

The decision to enter political marketing.

At that time, it was an area dominated by traditional methods — posters, television, events. Digital was treated superficially.

I chose to move in that direction even though it meant giving up stable and well-paid corporate projects. It was a calculated risk.

Over time, however, digital became central to campaigns, and that decision proved to be one of the best choices of my career.

C&B: How have you changed over time as a leader/professional?

In the beginning, I was very control-oriented. I wanted to do everything myself and check every detail.

Today, I understand that real value comes from strategy and from the ability to build systems that work.

I moved from “doing” to “building.”

And perhaps most importantly, I learned patience. In digital, results come — but not always instantly.

C&B: What do you think people who work directly with you say about you — beyond the public image?

I think people appreciate that I’m direct and results-oriented.

I’m not the kind of person who tells you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. Sometimes that creates discomfort, but in the long run, it brings clarity.

On the other hand, I know I can be demanding. But that demand comes from the desire to do things properly.

C&B: What truly differentiates the way you build or lead?

I work heavily with data and very little with assumptions.

For example, during a political campaign, we completely changed the communication direction after analyzing reactions on social media. We identified a topic ignored by the candidate but highly present in people’s comments.

We quickly pivoted the message and achieved a visible increase in engagement and relevance.

C&B: How has the current context (technology, AI, economy) changed the way you work?

Technology, especially AI, has accelerated everything.

Today, we can test, generate, and optimize content much faster. But this also comes with a challenge: execution is no longer the differentiator — strategy is.

Anyone can generate content. Very few know what content to generate.

I integrated AI into content creation, analysis, and optimization processes. What used to take days now takes hours.

But most importantly, reaction speed has increased. In politics, that makes all the difference.

C&B: Is there a habit or routine that significantly influenced your performance?

Yes — constant analysis.

Every morning I look at the numbers: traffic, engagement, reactions. I’ve been doing this for years.

That discipline helped me make quick decisions and avoid costly mistakes.

C&B: What principles guide your important decisions?

Data before opinions.

Testing before scaling.

Clarity before speed.

For example, in one campaign, the client insisted on a message that “sounded good.” The tests showed it didn’t work. We changed direction. The result: interactions doubled.

C&B: How do you see the evolution of your field over the next 3–5 years?

Over the next 3–5 years:

– AI will dominate content production
– message personalization will become standard
– campaigns will become increasingly data-driven

The risk? Content oversaturation.

The opportunity? Those who know how to filter and structure information will win.

C&B: What role do you aim to play in this evolution?

I want to contribute to the professionalization of political marketing in Romania. It’s a field with enormous potential, but it is still not properly leveraged. I’m building a digital ecosystem for political communication — platforms, media distribution, integrated strategies.

My goal is simple: to professionalize political communication in Romania.

C&B: What real advice would you give someone who wants to build something relevant today?

If I had to give one real piece of advice, based on what I’ve seen work — but especially on what doesn’t work — it would be this:

Don’t build on assumptions. Validate everything.
This was probably the most expensive mistake I made in the beginning. I had projects where I “felt” the direction was right and invested time and money before verifying whether there was actual interest. The result: traffic without conversion, effort without impact.

Today, I don’t start anything without a minimum test: a message, a small campaign, real market feedback. If there’s no reaction, there’s no product or message — no matter how good it sounds in theory.

Learn to understand data, not just collect it.
A lot of people have access to data, but very few know what to do with it. In digital and politics, the difference is not made by the amount of information, but by the interpretation of it.

I’ve seen campaigns where all the tools existed — analytics, social media, surveys — but decisions were still made “by instinct.” Every time I changed direction based on real data (comments, behavior, reactions), the results came faster and clearer.

Don’t try to appear relevant. Be relevant.
There’s a huge difference between communicating a lot and communicating well. Many people confuse presence with impact. They post constantly, appear everywhere, but say nothing that truly matters to the audience.

I learned that relevance comes from aligning your message with a real need people have. The moment you speak about what matters to them — not about what you want to say — everything changes dramatically.

And perhaps most importantly:
Have patience when building, but speed when testing and correcting.

The best results don’t come from a brilliant idea on the first try, but from a process where you constantly adjust direction until you find what truly works.

C&B: What is an uncomfortable truth about your field that few people talk about?

An uncomfortable but very real truth is that in political marketing (and beyond), the problem is often not the lack of strategy, but the refusal to follow it.

I’ve frequently encountered situations where data exists, analyses exist, clear recommendations exist — but the final decisions are made emotionally, politically, or out of ego. In practice, expertise is requested, but real change is not accepted. Many people say they want performance, but in reality, they want validation of their own ideas.

Another truth is that visibility does not automatically mean trust. Significant budgets are invested in appearances, presence, in “being everywhere,” but without a coherent strategy behind it. The result? A lot of noise and very little impact. I’ve seen highly visible politicians who failed to convert that visibility into real support.

There is also too little discussion about the fact that digital is not a magical solution. It does not fix the lack of substance, it does not cover incoherence, and it cannot sustain an incredible message long term. It can accelerate things, but it cannot fundamentally correct them.

And perhaps the most uncomfortable truth:
Real performance in this field is measurable — but not always accepted.

Because when you honestly look at the data, you clearly see what works and what doesn’t. And that sometimes means admitting that the direction needs to change. Not everyone is ready for that level of accountability.

In the end, the difference is not made by access to tools or budgets, but by the ability to make the right decisions when reality does not confirm what you wish were true.

Through more than two decades of experience in digital marketing and political communication, Daniel Cîrnu proves that success is not built on assumptions, but on strategy, analysis, and continuous adaptation.

An inspirational interview about the power of personal branding, the impact of strategic communication, and professional transformation through visibility and consistency in the market.

After more than a decade dedicated to strategic communication and reputation management in the corporate environment, Iulia chose to follow her own path and step into entrepreneurship.

Throughout over ten years of activity, Iulia has guided multinational and Romanian entrepreneurial organizations — market leaders — through internal and external communication, employer branding, advocacy, and marketing in highly regulated industries.

With experience gained from working with over 30 brands across more than 10 industries, she has built a reputation for integrating creativity with strategy, strengthening brand positioning, and transforming complex challenges into growth opportunities with real business results.

Beyond her work in communication and marketing, Iulia is a certified trainer and coach, with the ability to turn personal and professional stories into tools for growth and measurable impact.

After supporting organizations and leaders to clarify their messages and strengthen their market reputation, Iulia now helps professionals and entrepreneurs create a coherent career evolution strategy and long-term visibility through personal branding strategy, coaching, and LinkedIn positioning.

C&B: If we look at the narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?

Iulia Rotărescu: The truth is, we never stop writing our story. For as long as I can remember, I have been in continuous exploration. Behind a well-crafted career story lies a personal journey shaped by resilience, healing, and a deep commitment to my own development. Through ownership and courage, I transformed difficulties into clarity and life’s obstacles into essential resources.
I changed my professional trajectory several times, each time with intention and consciously building my next professional milestone. I graduated from a high school that didn’t match my abilities, then studied and worked in politics, advocacy, and government relations, and ultimately specialized in marketing, communication, and public relations — where I have over ten years of experience so far. Each shift was actually a career transition that led me toward roles better aligned with my abilities, passions, and calling. Everything I learned up to a certain point propelled me into a new stage in my career, strengthened my transversal skills, and made me a better, deeper, more complete specialist.
In time, I realized that my experiences and expertise could help other people who need guidance toward a more aligned personal and career path. That’s how I started working in career coaching sessions, offering strategic personal branding consultancy, LinkedIn communication, and storytelling workshops. Today I support those who are ready to take ownership of their career and visibility with courage, offering a rare combination of strategic clarity in career, personal branding vision, and guidance anchored in real experience, learned from my own journey full of challenges.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?

Iulia Rotărescu: I have had a life journey that was at least challenging. My father passed away when I was only five, I went through domestic violence and bullying in a society that blames victims and stigmatizes vulnerable people. I went through depression, anxiety, and insomnia, and what helped me overcome them was education — studying was my anchor in childhood and later my engine in building my career — and the fact that I never stopped fighting for myself. I went to therapy, which taught me to manage my emotions more balanced, to process them, and to work continuously on myself to maintain my wellbeing. Later I discovered coaching as a resource for developing my potential.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?

Iulia Rotărescu: I always dreamed of a successful career. In middle school and high school, I dreamed of becoming a lawyer, and later in university I dreamed of becoming the best specialist in Romania in national security. But resources and dreams don’t always align. In the end, I chose a field of study that motivated and deeply fascinated me, I ended up working in politics, in the office of a deputy, in electoral campaigns, and although I loved it, I felt there was no future for me there. Shortly after, working in the private sector, I understood that success is built “more” meritocratically, and I needed an environment where abilities, work, and competencies dictate the future.

C&B: How did you start out, and how do you feel you have transformed over time?

Iulia Rotărescu: I have always been ambitious and had the courage to do things most people wouldn’t dare to do. I guided myself by the belief that I must act against fear. I was always hardworking, with a strong desire to show the world what I am capable of. What changed with experience and professional validation is the fact that now I no longer want to prove anything to anyone except myself. It’s a much healthier and more balanced mindset. I strengthened my strategic thinking, became confident in my abilities, I follow my ideas, and above all, I believe in my potential and in the potential of the people around me. If at the beginning I was strictly focused on success and results, gradually in recent years I have begun to focus more on people — hence the direction toward personal branding and coaching for visibility and career growth.

C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Iulia Rotărescu: I probably wouldn’t like everything they say, but many things would certainly be true. They would say I am creative, capable, inventive, extremely structured and organized on one hand, but also strict, perfectionistic, authoritative, and that I don’t like losing control. That it’s important to me that things always turn out above expectations, regardless of circumstances, resources, or time. That I am passionate, idealistic, and that I want to achieve the maximum with the resources I have.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?

Iulia Rotărescu: I could mention several: the fact that education has always been my priority, choosing my university — which enriched my general knowledge and understanding of the world we live in — moving to Bucharest, deciding to start therapy, and most recently, choosing to train in coaching — where I am already in my second school. These are certainly turning points in my personal and professional life. And now I feel my life is already taking a new direction, a path that I am building with authenticity, deep presence, and continuous becoming.

C&B: How did you shape your leadership style or the way you make decisions? Was it a natural or learned process?

Iulia Rotărescu: All psychometric and self-awareness tests reflect my natural leadership abilities. But leading doesn’t necessarily mean being a good leader, and I have always been aware of that. My leadership style is still forming — I am searching for it — and I work a lot on myself to become a better leader while keeping my authenticity. It’s easy for me to outline the vision, shape direction, create strategy, and manage objectives, but when it comes to leadership, relationships with people matter the most — how you interact with stakeholders and the atmosphere within the team. And beyond that, the way you influence. Maybe that’s why I love coaching so much: it comes with simple rules — curiosity, listening, presence — the opposite of the traditional corporate environment where you must always be ready with all the answers. In coaching I don’t give solutions or advice, I don’t direct; instead, I trust the person in front of me and their resources to find their own answers through the right questions and reflection in my presence.

C&B: What does “personal brand” mean to you, and what steps do you consider essential for someone who wants to build one?

Iulia Rotărescu: Personal brand is who we are, how we behave, the perception others have of us, and what we intentionally and consciously choose to make visible about ourselves. Building a personal brand is a deep process of self-knowledge, defining mission and vision, identifying values, clarifying and deciding on the important aspects that give us direction in life and career. Once we clarify these and build the personal branding strategy, the next step is deciding how we communicate these things to others — to our target audience or clients.
Personal brand is created continuously through the perception others have of us, both online and offline, through our reputation, our conscious actions and behaviors, and even our unintentional ones.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what moments bring you the most satisfaction?

Iulia Rotărescu: My objective is always to achieve the maximum with the resources I have while also offering myself wellbeing, time to recharge, and care for myself. With time, I realize more and more how important it is to spend quality time with myself: to reflect, rest, and do activities that make me feel good. I plan, prepare, and double-check my agenda and activities for the next day every evening, and in the morning I take some time for stretching or meditation for a few minutes. Then I am present in several coaching sessions where we explore the client’s career direction or professional objectives, which gives me fulfillment. Afterwards, I work on clients’ personal branding strategies, helping them increase their visibility. I end the day with a movie, a book, coloring, or exploring any other passion that brings me joy.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them daily?

Iulia Rotărescu: I believe in authenticity, perspective, communication, courage, freedom, and ownership. I am who I say I am, and I support my clients in discovering what is true for them. Through the coaching, storytelling, and personal branding programs I create, I bring new perspectives and profound meanings that generate new insights and clear action directions. Through communication I generate growth, develop myself, take ownership of who I am, make my story visible to the world, and help my clients achieve the same. I am courageous in the way I act, communicate with vulnerability, and live my life with depth. At the same time, through my direct and assertive approach, through honesty and grounding in reality, I am a partner for those who want to act despite fear.
I have a very fine compass that shows me direction. When I feel something is wrong, I check which of my values are being violated or which values I haven’t been honoring. The way I feel is a clear indicator that guides me toward living my values. I believe in the freedom of an exploratory space where you can clarify your voice and rewrite or build from scratch a personal story that reflects who you truly are. Real, authentic growth comes when you do what you feel, even when you are afraid.

C&B: What are the most common blocks you notice in the people you coach, and how do you help them overcome them?

Iulia Rotărescu: Lack of clarity about the career direction to follow, the feeling that they have nothing valuable to offer, fear of change, lack of awareness of strengths and internal resources they can use for professional growth or transition, lack of awareness of transversal skills that can be transferred from one industry to another or from one profession to another.
Coaching involves working with clear, measurable, achievable, SMART objectives, as we like to say in corporations. The willingness to explore and reflect is the most important step and must come from the client. From that decision, change, clarity, and goal achievement begin. That is the key that opens the door to courage.
Afterwards, through internationally validated tools, psychometric tests, deep discussions, and practical exercises, we explore the client’s resources, strengths, and the direction they want to pursue. We set the long-term goal and begin building the growth or transition strategy. Each coaching session brings us closer to the goal, ensuring it is achievable and aligned with the client’s mission, identity, and environment.

C&B: What can personal branding do for an entrepreneur or expert who wants to be recognized in the market?

Iulia Rotărescu: It’s amazing what personal branding can do for an entrepreneur or expert who wants to position themselves and be recognized in the market. Through continuous communication and media exposure, a person can go from being completely unknown to becoming a public figure with tens of thousands of followers on social media and dozens of appearances in online press and TV shows. What matters most is the story behind it — who you are as a person, your life story, your professional experience, what makes you unique, the value you bring to the world — and the consistency with which you build your public image. What I can say is that the impact and results of building a strategic and coherent personal brand go beyond imagination.

As Iulia Rotărescu highlights, the difference between an invisible professional and one who is recognized in their industry lies in how they tell their story, in their consistency, and in their ability to deliver real value.

Discover the professional journey of Ioan Miclea, an expert in communication, public relations, and digital marketing at the University of Bucharest, blending academic rigor with creativity to inspire and shape future generations.

With over 10 years of experience in communication, public relations, and digital marketing, Ioan Miclea has been working at the University of Bucharest for more than 7 years, where, since 2024, he coordinates the News and Events Service. Over the years, Ioan has combined academic rigor with creativity, managing campaigns, events, and image crises, as well as building strategic partnerships through authentic and relevant communication. A graduate with a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the University of Bucharest, Ioan has been teaching seminars on marketing, event organization, and public relations at the same faculty since 2019, sharing his experience with students and encouraging them to see communication as a bridge between people, values, and opportunities.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence to pique the curiosity of those who don’t know you yet?
Ioan Miclea: Passionate about communication and creating authentic stories, always seeking new ways to connect people and organizations.

C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career, what have been the key moments that defined you?
Ioan Miclea: A key moment was defending my doctoral thesis in communication sciences, focused on crisis communication – a topic that, beyond theory, provided me with a set of extremely useful practical tools. I understood then how important preparation for unpredictable situations is and how a well-managed crisis can become an opportunity. Another defining moment was the transition from the role of specialist to coordinator of the News and Events Service at the University of Bucharest. This change brought me the responsibility of leading teams and complex projects, which challenged me to develop leadership skills and to think more strategically.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your career so far, and how did you overcome it?
Ioan Miclea: The most difficult period was when I had to manage major projects at work simultaneously with finishing my doctoral studies. The pressure was immense, and time was limited. I overcame that moment through discipline, prioritization, and learning to ask for help when needed. This experience showed me that resilience doesn’t mean doing everything alone but building support networks and staying true to your goals.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Ioan Miclea: My ambition has always been to surpass myself and grow continuously, both professionally and personally. Obstacles did not discourage me but forced me to find creative solutions and turn challenges into steps forward. I believe perseverance and adaptability are what make the difference in the long run.

C&B: How did you look at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you have transformed until now?
Ioan Miclea: This is one of the most interesting questions I’ve been asked because it awakens many memories. For me, the beginning of the journey was literally the start of a journey: a train trip on the Putna Seacă – București Basarab route in July 2013, with the necessary documents to enroll at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences. Ioan from 2013 was a shy but confident young man, a fresh graduate of Pedagogy, with music in his ears and a GREAT desire to write news. Ioan from 2025 still has music in his ears and managed to blend shyness and self-confidence into what today would be called “people skills,” kept his passion for news, and transformed it into a passion for communication, continuing to learn from every project he has been part of.

C&B: If we met with your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Ioan Miclea: I believe they would say that I am a team player, attentive to details and the needs of those around me. That I stay calm in tense situations and always try to find solutions, not blame. At the same time, they would probably mention that I emphasize creating an environment where every team member can contribute to the projects we work on. For me, leadership means building projects that remain relevant in the long term, not just achieving short-term objectives.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?
Ioan Miclea: I think the most important decision I made was to stay in the academic and institutional environment, rather than moving into the private sector. I made this decision because I realized I could make a real impact through education and strategic communication, helping to shape future generations and strengthen the image of a prestigious institution. This choice gave me the opportunity to work on long-term impact projects and to link communication with the educational mission.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or decision-making approach? Was it a natural process or learned?
Ioan Miclea: My leadership style has formed over time through a combination of experience and continuous learning. Initially, I led instinctively, relying on empathy and the desire to help. Later, I understood the importance of structure, constant feedback, and making tough decisions. I believe in what I call “collaborative leadership,” because I concluded that people work best when they feel listened to and respected, and when goals are clear and shared.

C&B: What do you think differentiates your business or professional approach from the rest of the industry?
Ioan Miclea: I believe the difference lies in how I combine the rigor of institutional communication with the authenticity of personal stories. Communication is not just about conveying information but about creating real connections and understanding the social and cultural context in which you operate. That is why I focus on crafting messages that not only inform but inspire and bring long-term value to all the audiences I address.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and what moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Ioan Miclea: A typical day today is completely different from the “typical day” three years ago because it involves a lot of coordination: from planning meetings and drafting administrative documents to managing events or unexpected situations. The greatest satisfaction comes when I see the results of the work reflected in public reactions or colleague feedback – whether it’s the success of an event, a successful campaign, or a simple message that reached exactly where it was supposed to.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them daily?
Ioan Miclea: Transparency, respect, and perseverance are the values that guide me. I always try to be honest in communication, treat every colleague and collaborator with respect, and never lower the standards I have set, even when it might be easier to compromise.

C&B: If you were to send a message to those who follow your example, what would it be?
Ioan Miclea: I would say that success doesn’t come overnight but is built step by step. Don’t be afraid to start from the bottom, to make mistakes, and to learn. And, above all, stay curious: in communication, in life, in everything you do. Curiosity is what opens unexpected doors.

Ioan Miclea’s professional journey is a compelling example of how passion, discipline, and authentic leadership can turn challenges into opportunities. By combining academic rigor with creativity, Ioan continues to inspire and shape future generations, proving that authentic and strategic communication is essential for long-term success.
