At Decathlon Romania, employee wellbeing drives corporate sports sales growth

The corporate (B2B) segment of Decathlon Romania is recording strong growth, driven by companies’ increasing focus on employee wellbeing programs and initiatives that promote active lifestyles, the company said in a press release.

Since the launch of its B2B projects around four years ago, corporate sales have posted consistent double-digit annual growth. This trend is supported by rising corporate interest in employee health and by European policies encouraging sport and physical activity across all age groups. Against this backdrop, Decathlon Romania aims for corporate sales to exceed 10% of its local turnover by 2030.

“We clearly see that sport and employee wellbeing are no longer optional benefits, but strategic investments for companies. Organizations that invest in health, movement, and active programs for employees achieve tangible results, including improved business performance. The rapid growth of the corporate segment confirms this mindset shift, and for Decathlon Romania it is a clear signal that sport is becoming part of companies’ development strategies,” said Bogdan Dorobant, B2B Director at Decathlon.

Broad demand and key B2B product categories

Demand for B2B solutions comes from a wide range of sectors, including construction, IT, marketing, retail, public institutions, education, sports clubs, and NGOs. Private companies primarily focus on employee wellbeing programs, internal sports facilities, and marketing or loyalty campaigns. Public institutions and schools use these purchases to equip educational facilities, while sports clubs invest in infrastructure and athlete equipment.

The most requested product categories include sports apparel and footwear, outdoor equipment, team sports products, and urban mobility items. Frequently purchased products range from backpacks and balls for football, handball, basketball, and volleyball to tracksuits, jackets, winter footwear, T-shirts, shorts, table tennis tables, and basketball hoops.
