A Romanian government delegation is in Paris starting on Monday, January 12, for one of the final stages of Romania’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The delegation is led by Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare and includes experts from key ministries, as well as representatives of the National Bank of Romania.
“The meetings over these days aim to validate Romania’s economic reform path and mark a decisive step toward OECD accession. These evaluations and exchanges are important not only to confirm progress made, but also to support a balanced and resilient economic growth strategy,” said Alexandru Nazare.

The January 12 agenda included a series of bilateral meetings with senior OECD officials to strengthen political and technical support for the accession process. Nazare is scheduled to meet Manal Corwin, OECD Director, for technical discussions on fiscal policy and international economic governance standards. He will also hold talks with Mathias Cormann, OECD Secretary-General, focusing on Romania’s progress, the accession timeline and key macroeconomic developments.
Key assessment scheduled for January 13
The central moment of the visit takes place on Tuesday, January 13, when the Romanian delegation attends the evaluation session of the OECD’s Economic Development and Review Committee (EDRC). The discussions will focus on the draft 2026 Economic Survey for Romania, a strategic document for the accession process.
The survey covers macroeconomic developments, social policies, climate change mitigation and competitiveness. Talks will also address improving the business environment, boosting private investment and ensuring a more predictable fiscal framework.
