Hidroelectrica, Romania’s largest electricity producer, has announced that it has started issuing bills for electricity consumption recorded in December 2025, following the completion of its IT system upgrade.
“We would like to inform you that we have started the process of issuing invoices related to electricity consumption for December 2025. As these invoices are generated, the balance displayed in the iHidro application will change, even if the invoice has not yet reached your email address or mailing address,” the company said.
Earlier this year, Hidroelectrica informed customers that invoices issued in January would be delayed due to the modernization of its IT systems, which manage customer interactions.

Digital transformation and data migration completed
Between January 1 and January 20, 2026, the company carried out a “strategic project aimed at supporting digitalization and improving the quality of services provided to customers, an operation involving the implementation of a new IT system,” according to an official statement. The project also included the migration of databases.
The new systems are designed to improve customer relations, ensure faster and more secure billing processes, increase transparency regarding balances and payments, and deliver enhanced digital functionalities tailored to consumer needs.
Hidroelectrica also stated that payments made through channels other than the iHidro application, such as bank transfers completed between January 1 and January 15, 2026, will be reflected in customer balances after the migration stages are finalized, namely after January 15, 2026. The company emphasized that these adjustments do not affect customers’ contractual rights.
