Mercure Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor portfolio, has announced the opening of Mercure Bucharest Cantemir, a new hotel located in central Bucharest, just steps away from Unirii Square, the Old Town, and Tineretului Park.
Founded in 1973, Mercure has built its brand around the belief that meaningful experiences are shaped by local culture and community. With more than 1,000 hotels across over 70 countries, the brand combines global reach with a strong local identity, offering guests more than accommodation – a genuine sense of belonging.
The opening of Mercure Bucharest Cantemir further expands Accor’s presence in Romania, bringing the group’s local portfolio to 25 hotels in key urban, business, and leisure destinations.

The hotel is owned by Bucharest-based Sab Serv Expres S.R.L., part of Star Priority Holding SRL, one of Romania’s major residential developers. Local operations and the launch were overseen by Hotel Manager Cornelia Bădiță.
Urban-inspired design and local gastronomy
Mercure Bucharest Cantemir features 40 rooms, including Privilege rooms, accessible accommodation options, and a meeting room for small business events. The interior design, created by architect and interior designer Claudia Voinea-Fântână of Important IMP, draws inspiration from the street art along Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard, translated into a contemporary Neo-Memphis aesthetic.
Restaurant Cantemir offers an all-day dining concept, with a curated menu inspired by Bucharest’s interwar cuisine, reimagined through modern techniques. Mercure Cantemir Bar welcomes both hotel guests and locals with signature cocktails inspired by local flavors, including “Cantemir Royal” and “Queen Maria.”
