BCR and Erste Group Bank AG have approved €58.5 million in financing for a 49.8 MW onshore wind project developed by Greenvolt through its subsidiary Greenvolt Power. According to Forbes, the project is located in Săcele, Constanța, with construction expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
BCR contributes €29.25 million via long-term financing, complemented by two additional facilities supporting construction and operational phases. The remaining funding comes from Erste Group Bank AG. BCR notes that the deal showcases its ability to structure complex financing for energy infrastructure.

“Our partnership with Erste Group enables large-scale financing and supports regional energy security, community development, and Romania’s economic competitiveness,” said Manuela Trisnevschi, Head of Energy and Utilities at BCR.
Romania remains strategic for Greenvolt
João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, highlighted Romania’s role: “Central and Eastern Europe, especially Romania, remains a strategic market for Greenvolt, where we continue to deliver projects with a direct impact on the energy transition and energy security.”
Erste Group reaffirmed its commitment to renewables in Romania. “This financing reflects our confidence in Greenvolt and in the long-term fundamentals of Romania’s renewable energy market,” said Ladislav Tolmáči, Executive Director Corporate Finance at Erste Group Bank.
Legal advisory was provided by Clifford Chance Badea for the lenders, while PwC audited the financial model. The project strengthens Greenvolt’s local footprint and reinforces BCR’s role in Romania’s energy transition.
