C&B: If we were to look at the narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?
Alexandra Crăescu: One of the moments that defined me as an artist was my participation in Megastar in 2008. From there, I gradually began to build, to discover myself, to want more, and to work hard in order to have a solid musical career. Later on, my role in the musical Rebecca helped me discover my acting side and, above all, fall in love with this absolutely wonderful genre and enter the world of Romanian musical theatre, which was still in its early stages at the time.
C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far, and how did you overcome it?
Alexandra Crăescu: The most difficult moment was in 2018, when I was diagnosed with early-stage vocal cord nodules. At that time, I didn’t know what to expect or how things would evolve, especially since I couldn’t afford to take complete vocal rest during treatment or possible recovery if surgery had been necessary. Together with my medical team and my therapist, Ioana Măndoiu, I chose the longer but safer path. After a fairly long period of treatment, care, exercises, discipline, and awareness, I gained valuable skills that help me manage any vocal issues that may arise. Of course, now I also help other singers who ask me how I managed to recover.
C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Alexandra Crăescu: Of course. Since I was a small child, I dreamed of becoming a singer. That has been my wish for as long as I can remember.
C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you’ve transformed up to now?
Alexandra Crăescu: My beginnings were not always marked by success, quite the opposite. There were obstacles at every step, and there still are. But I was never the kind of person to give up just because I didn’t win a certain prize or competition. I wanted to evolve and develop so that I could truly say something meaningful. Every failure made me stronger and more ambitious. Now, at 37 (I’ll turn 38 in May), I realize that, in fact, I know nothing.
C&B: If we met your collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Alexandra Crăescu: I’m curious about that myself.
C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your path?
Alexandra Crăescu: The best decision was to participate in Megastar. From that moment on, my life changed completely.
C&B: How did you develop your leadership style or decision-making approach? Was it natural or learned?
Alexandra Crăescu: It was definitely acquired through a lot of hard work and many good and not-so-good experiences. Even now, I’m not sure how good I am as a leader, but I try my best to improve and adapt in this area as well. There have been times when I made good decisions, and times when I didn’t. We learn from everything and move forward.
C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Alexandra Crăescu: A typical day for me starts later, with physical exercises that I do every time I wake up (breathing exercises, planks), followed by my indispensable coffee and breakfast. After that, it depends on what I have planned. If I have rehearsals, I go to rehearsals; if not, I take care of household tasks, shopping, and vocal exercises. There are also days when I just take things as they come. If I have an important project coming up, it usually means lots of rehearsals.
C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them daily?
Alexandra Crăescu: I am an honest and sincere person, and I like to help, whether it’s people or animals. I believe that every being is important and deserves respect and appreciation, whether human or animal. I am quite sensitive when it comes to animals, and I live by the principle that we never know through whose eyes God is watching us.
C&B: If you were to share a message with those who follow your example, what would it be?
Alexandra Crăescu: Dear people, be kinder, be more attentive to those around you, and follow your dreams! Believe in yourselves even when you don’t feel confident! Don’t give up, giving up is not an option.
Alexandra Crăescu’s story is living proof that talent, combined with perseverance, discipline, and faith in one’s dreams, can turn every obstacle into a valuable lesson. From her early appearances on major stages to memorable roles in musicals and her work as a mentor, Alexandra continues to inspire through authenticity, dedication, and passion. Her message remains simple yet powerful: be kind, believe in yourself, and never give up on what truly makes you happy.
