A Romanian entrepreneur has launched a networking platform described as the “Tinder for business professionals,” without any dating component. Minglr is a geolocation-based app that enables professional and personal connections between people in close proximity, whether in a café, airport or conference setting.
Founder Călin Spiridon, a marketing specialist with over ten years of experience and a graduate of Oxford College of Marketing, says the idea emerged from observing that young people prefer digital communication even when physically close to one another.
“Totul a pornit de la o observație simplă: suntem înconjurați de oameni, dar vorbim tot mai puțin unii cu alții. (…) Este singura aplicație bazată pe geolocație prin care îți arătăm oamenii din jur și cu care poți vorbi doar completând ușor cine ești și ce interese ai. Dar mai important este că prin conexiuni rapide poți începe să colaborezi cu cei din proximitatea ta, puteți avea proiecte împreună sau puteți împărtăși o pasiune comună”, he explains.

The app was developed over two and a half years, with an investment of approximately €300,000. Part of the founding team’s contribution was structured through a share-equity model, estimated at €295,000.
Business-driven networking with AI moderation
Minglr is available on Android and iOS and has been operational for five months. Around 60% of users engage with the app for professional collaborations, while 40% use it for social interaction. Men represent 60% of users and women 40%, with 20% being foreign tourists, mainly from Portugal, Denmark and the Netherlands.
For content moderation, the app integrates AI technology provided by Amazon to detect and restrict inappropriate or illegal content.
A distinctive feature, Minglr CodeLink, allows companies and event organizers to create private communities accessible through a dedicated code. Users can view up to 200 members within that group, ordered by proximity, without revealing exact locations.
Over the next 6–12 months, the team plans to integrate personalized AI-based connection suggestions and expand into major European cities. The monetization model will include subscriptions and promotional options for companies and event organizers.
