WhatsApp is testing a long-awaited feature that will allow users to schedule messages to be sent automatically at a chosen date and time. The new option would remove the need for users to be online when the message is delivered.
The functionality was identified in beta version 26.7.10.72 for iOS, according to researchers from WhatsApp Beta Info, cited by Tecnoandroid. The app’s code includes early references to a dedicated section called “Scheduled Messages.”

Users will be able to compose a message, select the desired date and time, and the system will automatically send it without further action. A separate section will display all scheduled messages and allow users to edit or delete them before delivery.
The first screenshot shows the feature enabled in a group chat, but researchers expect it to be available in private conversations as well, becoming part of the app’s full user experience.
For now, the feature remains in development stage and is not yet available even in the beta channel. An official launch could take a considerable amount of time, depending on the company’s final decision.
Scheduled messaging is already available on several competing platforms, and its absence on WhatsApp had been considered a notable omission. “The platform has been particularly active recently, launching other new features such as account protection passwords and an updated status design.”
