Starting March 1, Gabriela Popescu has taken on the role of Country Manager for Microsoft Romania, Moldova and the CIS region, marking a new leadership phase for the company’s operations in the area.
Popescu joined Microsoft Romania in 2017 and most recently served as interim General Manager, while also leading corporate, external and legal affairs for Central Europe, supporting Microsoft’s strategic initiatives across the region.

“With this new role, I look forward to working closely with customers, partners and public institutions to help organizations leverage cloud and AI technologies in ways that create real value, strengthen resilience and support sustainable economic growth,” Gabriela Popescu said.
Microsoft’s commitments in Romania
Under her leadership, Microsoft will continue its long-term commitments in Romania, focusing on several strategic priorities:
• supporting digital transformation in key sectors such as public services, education and healthcare
• accelerating the responsible adoption of AI
• strengthening digital skills and local innovation ecosystems
Through these initiatives, Microsoft aims to support both public and private organizations in harnessing digital technologies to drive economic growth and competitiveness.
