Cupra Raval enters final stage before launch. Range, performance and pricing of the brand’s first EV built in Spain

The new Cupra Raval, the Spanish brand’s compact electric model, is close to its official launch scheduled for this month. The vehicle has already been spotted without camouflage during snow testing in Scandinavia, according to Autocar. The model uses the MEB+ platform developed by the Volkswagen Group, the same architecture that will underpin the upcoming Volkswagen ID.Polo.

Raval represents the production version of the Cupra UrbanRebel concept. Prototypes captured during testing retain the distinctive front-end styling seen on the concept. At the rear, the design features more conventional taillights connected by a continuous LED light bar. The wheelbase appears longer, while the exterior includes a pronounced diffuser and black plastic trim around the arches, side sills and roof. The C-pillar area features a black separation line, a reinterpretation of the “floating roofline” trend.

Specifications, range and expected European pricing

The Cupra Raval rides on the MEB+ platform, also used by Volkswagen ID.2, Volkswagen ID Cross and Skoda Epiq. In its segment, the model will compete with Renault 5, MG 4 EV Urban and Peugeot e-208.

Technically, the car features a front-mounted electric motor and a battery located between the axles. Battery capacity ranges between 38 kWh and 56 kWh, with the top version expected to deliver up to 450 km of range. The entry-level model is expected to start at around €25,000–€26,000 in Western Europe.

The production location is also significant for the brand. Cupra Raval will be the first electric model from the brand assembled in Spain, at the Martorell plant, which recently underwent a major modernization program. Raval will also become the first Volkswagen Group model launched on the MEB+ platform.

International journalists have already driven camouflaged prototypes. The top Raval VZ version produces 223 hp and features a VAQ mechanical front differential, sport suspension with adaptive damping and a torque vectoring system. All versions of the model will deliver at least 208 hp.

Early impressions point to a balanced and stable driving experience. The torque vectoring system subtly manages power distribution, helping the car maintain its trajectory without torque steer. A full evaluation of the driving dynamics will follow once the production version becomes available.
