French carmaker Renault will unveil the Renault Bridger Concept on March 10, previewing a future compact urban SUV, according to a company statement.
The concept will be presented during Renault’s strategy day focused on the group’s international expansion plans. The vehicle features a rugged design, including a rear-mounted spare wheel, and compact proportions with a length under 4 meters, while still offering a spacious interior.
The name Bridger derives from the English word “bridge,” symbolizing strength and connection, following the same naming logic used for models such as Renault Duster.
Production model to be developed in India
The future production version of the SUV will be designed and developed in India, and is expected to be manufactured at Renault’s plant in Chennai.
The model is primarily targeted at markets such as India, Africa and the Middle East, where demand for compact and affordable SUVs remains strong.
Given the slower adoption of electric vehicles in these regions, the car is expected to be offered exclusively with internal combustion engines, likely including mild-hybrid or full-hybrid powertrains similar to those used in the latest Dacia Duster.
The Bridger Concept is part of Renault’s broader plan to expand its presence outside Europe, following the announcement of a £2.2 billion investment strategy aimed at increasing the group’s global market share.
The concept joins other Renault projects designed for global markets, including the Renault Niagara Concept, an off-road pickup expected to reach the market around 2027.
