Energy group OMV, the majority shareholder of OMV Petrom, has announced the appointment of Emma Delaney as chief executive officer. The move marks a first in the history of the Vienna-listed company, according to AFP, cited by Agerpres.
Delaney will succeed Alfred Stern, with her mandate starting on September 1 for a three-year term, extendable by two additional years.

International profile with BP experience
According to the company, Delaney was selected as the “best candidate” following an international recruitment process.
She is currently a member of the executive board at BP, overseeing one of its three global divisions and managing a workforce of over 50,000 employees across around 50 countries.
Her appointment still requires approval from OMV’s Supervisory Board.
A rare presence in the oil and gas sector
Delaney’s appointment highlights the fact that few major global oil and gas companies are led by women.
Examples include Meg O’Neill and Vicki Hollub of Occidental Petroleum.
