Andrei Ion – The Art of Creating Memorable Experiences Between Stage and Business

Andrei Ion, CEO & International Event Architect at Premier Planners and founder of FunHouse The CoverBand, speaks about his dual career, leadership, authenticity, and his mission to create emotion-driven, memorable experiences.

Andrei Ion is CEO and International Event Architect at Premier Planners and an artist with over two decades of experience in entertainment, both on stages in Romania and internationally. Manager and Lead Vocalist of FunHouse The CoverBand, which he founded in 2010, Andrei has built a dual career where business, creativity, and emotion complement each other. He has coordinated and contributed to the development of musical projects and events with global impact, continuing to be a creator of energy, connection, and memorable experiences. His mission is to bring joy to people, to build vibrant and memorable experiences through the events he creates, and to develop projects that grow sustainably and authentically.

C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?

Andrei Ion: In my case, my career was never a straight line; it was a zigzag path, full of experiences that shaped me both as an artist and as a business professional. The first defining moment was when I stepped on stage for the first time, over 20 years ago. I felt very clearly then that music was the language through which I could communicate best with the world.

Another important moment was the founding of the band FunHouse The CoverBand in 2010, a project that tested my limits but also opened the door to international events, new collaborations, and a deep understanding of the industry. At the same time, my experience in International Event Management came as a natural extension. I realized that I could combine my passion for art with my management expertise, and that these two worlds do not exclude each other but can actually fuel one another.

In short, the moments that defined me were those in which I had the courage to choose change every time, while also allowing myself to grow in multiple professional directions in parallel.

C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far and how did you overcome it?

Andrei Ion: The most difficult moment in my career was the one in which I had to reinvent myself. The music industry is constantly changing and if you do not evolve with it, you risk being left behind. There were periods when, despite working intensely, I felt I could not find the right direction. It was an inner struggle: do I stay on the artistic path or do I go deeper into the management side?

I overcame that moment through introspection and by embracing my dual identity: artist and manager. I realized that I did not have to choose between them, but rather make them coexist. That is how clarity emerged.

C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?

Andrei Ion: Yes. From a young age, I had the ambition to create memorable moments for people, whether I was on stage, behind a project, or in a business meeting. I always wanted people to leave happier than when they arrived. That was my compass.

My deepest dream? To leave something behind, not necessarily a monument, but a recognizable emotion. An energy. A memory that brings a smile.

C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey and how do you feel you have transformed up to the present?

Andrei Ion: At the beginning, I was an artist fully immersed in business, with a lot of passion and a touch of naivety. I did everything by instinct, which helped me but sometimes also limited me. Now I am much more grounded. I have learned to blend creativity with strategy, emotion with responsibility, spontaneity with planning.

What has changed the most is the way I relate to people and teams. Today, I know that true value is created through collaboration, not individualism.

C&B: If we were to meet your collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?

Andrei Ion: I believe they would say that I am someone who brings energy and clarity. That I am present, involved, and that I always try to see the potential in people. They would probably also mention my sense of humor, because I consider it an extremely valuable leadership tool, a way to relax the atmosphere and create space for ideas.

And yes, they would say that I smile a lot. For me, an authentic smile opens more doors than a thousand carefully chosen words.

C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?

Andrei Ion: The most important decision was to combine my artistic career with my business career. Many people told me that I had to choose one direction or that I could not do two things at a high level. I felt, however, that this very combination is what defines me. It was a decision that changed my life and expanded my professional horizons.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style or the way you make decisions? Was it a natural or learned process?

Andrei Ion: It was both natural and learned. Natural because I have always had the desire to work with people, to inspire and to organize. At the same time, I learned enormously from experience: from complex projects, from mistakes, from feedback, and from people who taught me how to listen and observe.

My style is empathetic yet firm. I believe in creative discipline, in freedom with responsibility, and in the power of leading by example.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now and which moments of the day bring you the greatest satisfaction?

Andrei Ion: A typical day is divided between business meetings, project planning, creative sessions and of course rehearsals or moments of musical study. I move between two worlds that, surprisingly, complement each other perfectly.

The most satisfying moments are when I see progress, whether it is a strategic project taking shape or rehearsing a new song with the band and feeling that unique energy. And in the evening, when I draw the line, I feel fulfilled if I know that I helped someone or resolved a situation with real impact.

C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do and how do you apply them day by day?

Andrei Ion: The core value for me is authenticity. I do not try to appear as someone else, I do not hide my vulnerabilities, and I do not compromise my principles. In addition, I place great importance on positive energy, respect, work ethic, creativity, and care for people.

I apply them concretely by listening, communicating openly, looking for solutions rather than problems, and striving every day to create an environment where people feel seen and valued.

C&B: If you were to send a message to people who follow your example, what would it be?

Andrei Ion: I would tell them never to betray their essence. To dream big, but to build with discipline. To understand that success does not come overnight and that an authentic journey also involves difficult moments. To surround themselves with good and genuine people, to constantly reinvent themselves, and not forget to enjoy the journey.

And perhaps most importantly, not to forget to smile. A smile changes dynamics in ways we do not even imagine.

A journey built on passion, discipline, and authenticity, where emotion becomes strategy and the experiences created leave lasting memories.
