Holcim România has announced the acquisition of Uranus Pluton SRL, a granite quarry operator active since 2004 in Cerna, Tulcea County. The transaction marks Holcim Romania’s entry into the market for quarry stone products used in asphalt production, railway applications, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
According to the company, the acquisition strengthens Holcim Romania’s position in the construction materials market and supports the development of a more integrated value chain aligned with rising infrastructure demand.
“The transaction supports Holcim Romania’s priorities by expanding our solutions portfolio, strengthening the value chain, and creating the foundation for long-term sustainable growth in Romania,” the company stated in its press release.

Operational continuity and strategic expansion
Uranus Pluton SRL currently employs more than 80 people, all of whom will continue their activity within the existing business following the acquisition, ensuring operational continuity. Integrating the company into Holcim’s portfolio enables the group to leverage local expertise while expanding its infrastructure-related capabilities.
