iPhone sales drive Apple to a new quarterly revenue record

Apple has posted strong financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, delivering the best iPhone sales quarter in the company’s history, according to Forbes.

During the quarter, iPhone revenues reached $85.27 billion, up 23% year-on-year from approximately $69 billion in the same period last year. The performance reflects the success of the latest smartphone generation, the iPhone 17, which received a significantly stronger market response than its predecessor.

China played a key role in driving growth, with Apple reporting its “best quarter ever” for iPhone sales in the region. Revenues from China climbed to $25.5 billion, representing a 38% increase compared to the previous year.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, highlighted China’s strategic importance to the quarterly results, pointing to strong consumer interest in the new features and upgrades introduced with the latest iPhone generation. Sales momentum was largely driven by hardware improvements and enhanced visual performance, including the new Retina Display, which clearly differentiates the devices from earlier models.

Beyond iPhone, the Services division remained a major growth engine, generating $30 billion in revenue. iPad sales reached $8.6 billion, while Mac sales declined by 7% and the accessories segment recorded a 2% drop, reflecting softer demand in these categories.

Overall, Apple reported total revenues of $143.76 billion, up 16% year-on-year. Net income rose to $42.1 billion, also marking a 16% annual increase, in line with revenue growth.
