Gabi Silviu is a photographer with over 6 years of experience. He started photography during a difficult period of his life (coming from depression), when art became a form of healing and rediscovery. Since then, his mission has been to help people regain their power, emotions, and authenticity through photography.
He believes that every person is complex and deserves to be seen exactly as they are. Through his photo sessions, he creates a safe space where people can express their personality and reconnect with their inner selves.
He has collaborated with public figures such as Ștefania Olariu, Yoyo, Lorena Șerban, Maracali, etc., as well as with brands like Sephora, Nivea, Elle, and others in various campaigns. Personally, he loves fashion and beauty photography, but he also enjoys being versatile and works in events, product photography, and more.
He is 25 years old and has been living in Bucharest for almost 3 years. He is in a constant state of change and believes he has reached this point thanks to his perseverance. He likes stepping out of his comfort zone, exploring, meeting new people, and constantly reinventing himself. He does not look for easy roads, but for the ones that help him grow.
C&B: If we were to look at the narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?
Gabi Silviu: If I were to see my career as a storyline, it began in a difficult moment, when art became a form of rescue and reconnection with myself. Photography first appeared as a refuge, then it turned into a feeling through which I learned to observe people, emotions, and the stories behind them.
A key moment was the decision to embrace photography not only as a passion, but as a professional path and a source of income.
C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far and how did you overcome it?
Gabi Silviu: It was leaving Brașov for Bucharest in order to follow my dream. I moved in with a stranger I randomly met on Instagram, without any safety net. In the first month I spent all my money on rent and had about 100 lei left for the rest of the month. I had only one clear option: either I managed to find a job in my field, or I would go back home, to a place where I knew I wasn’t well.
That period was a limit test that forced me to take responsibility for my choices and to function under pressure.
C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Gabi Silviu: Yes. In my opinion, if your dream isn’t too big, then you clearly have a problem. My biggest dream is to become an international photographer and to photograph the celebrities who marked my childhood and my soul.
C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey and how do you feel you have transformed up to now?
Gabi Silviu: I can say that life is a miracle, but results come with patience and action. I’ve learned that desires really do manifest and that it’s important not to take things personally. For me, the beginning was like the first episode of a series, and the story is still being written.
C&B: If we were to meet your collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Gabi Silviu: I think that if you talked to my collaborators, they would say they feel very comfortable in my presence. That the photo sessions are intimate, safe, and free of judgment, a space where they can be exactly as they are. They would probably say they appreciate my conceptual photography, but also the fact that they can fully trust me, including when it comes to discretion and confidentiality.
Many have told me that it’s easy to work with me, that my energy is positive, and that during the sessions they feel free, like when you are alone in your room and express yourself without anyone watching. I think authenticity and the atmosphere I create are the things that define me the most in their eyes.
C&B: What is the most important decision you made that changed your trajectory?
Gabi Silviu: The most important decision that changed my path was the moment I stopped listening to outside voices and started truly respecting myself. For a long time I functioned from a victim mentality, and that was reflected in the people and collaborations I attracted.
I chose not to define my present through my past or through trauma and to take responsibility for who I am now. When I started being authentic, including online, and stopped living according to other people’s expectations, things changed radically. I understood that it’s far more important how I relate to myself than opinions from the outside, because at the end of the day, you are left only with yourself.
C&B: How did you build your leadership style or the way you make decisions? Was it natural or learned?
Gabi Silviu: My leadership style and the way I make decisions were not completely natural; they were learned over time. I believe people learn from people, and my experiences with different types of individuals shaped me the most.
I learned the importance of clear boundaries and of correctly distinguishing between roles: partner, collaborator, friend, leader, team member, listener, and speaker. I understood that you shouldn’t take things personally and that everyone acts from their own context, not against you.
C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now and which moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Gabi Silviu: A typical day for me begins with a moment of gratitude. In the morning I remind myself that I am alive, that I can see, that I can move, and that I have the chance to live this experience called life. I am grateful for nature and for the people I meet throughout the day.
The greatest satisfaction appears during photo sessions, when I notice how people open up and discover parts of themselves they may not have been aware of. The moments when someone sees another side of themselves, more authentic and freer, are the ones that give me meaning and confirm that I am on the right path.
C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do and how do you apply them daily?
Gabi Silviu: The values and principles that guide me focus on patience, authenticity, and respect for time. I believe that any dream or project requires time and perseverance, so I try to be patient with myself and respect the building process.
I guide my life and work with gentleness toward myself, honesty toward others, determination, and curiosity. I make time for myself and for what truly matters, I avoid procrastination, and I protect my time because it is one of the most precious resources.
C&B: If you were to send a message to the people who follow your example, what would it be?
Gabi Silviu: My message for those who follow me would be to never limit their dreams. Even if you don’t have what you want right now, dream bigger, ask more from life, and believe in your power to create. Life is not about waiting or blaming others for circumstances, but about being the creator of your own story, the main character, authentic and free. Express yourselves, be who you are, and move forward with positive energy, because only then will you discover who you truly are and what you can build.
Gabi Silviu’s story is about courage, ownership, and continuous evolution. From beginnings marked by uncertainty to the dream of becoming an international photographer, with every frame he creates a safe space where people can see and feel themselves exactly as they are: real, powerful, and authentic.
