Romanian state-owned energy producer Hidroelectrica has warned that fraudulent advertisements and online platforms have appeared using the company’s name, visual identity or image to promote fake investment opportunities, according to information published by Economedia.
Among the examples identified is a platform called “Hidroelectrica Edge”, which the company says has no connection to its activities or official offers.

Fraud attempts promising fast profits
According to company representatives, these platforms are part of online fraud schemes designed to persuade users to transfer money or provide personal and banking data, often by promising quick or guaranteed profits.
Hidroelectrica stressed that it does not solicit investments through online platforms promoted on social media, sponsored ads or phone calls. The company also does not request personal or banking information through such channels.

Hidroelectrica advises the public to remain cautious about online investment offers that use the company’s name or the names of other well-known companies and promise large or guaranteed profits.
Such schemes may include:
- misleading advertisements
- manipulated video materials
- the use of images of public figures from the company’s leadership to create an appearance of legitimacy
The company encourages users who encounter such content to report it on the platforms where it appears and to avoid accessing suspicious websites or entering personal data.
Hidroelectrica also stated that it is cooperating with the relevant authorities to limit the impact of these fraud attempts and protect the public from the unauthorized use of its name and brand.
