Fundația Leaders has launched the ninth edition of The Next Generation of Innovators© program, developed together with Garrett Motion, giving 200 students in Bucharest access to practical learning experiences, industry mentorship and real innovation contexts in STEM fields, according to information published by Revista Cariere.
The program aims to prepare young people for the future of work, in a context where advanced technology must be complemented by strong human skills. Applications are open until March 16, 2026, while the program will take place between March 24 and April 24, 2026, in Bucharest.
Human skills in the AI era
This year’s edition focuses on “Human Skills in the AI Era”, highlighting the idea that while artificial intelligence can solve complex technical problems, human abilities remain essential. The program helps students understand how to combine technical skills with leadership and entrepreneurial thinking in order to develop innovative solutions with real applications in technology and business. Participants will also explore how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, fintech and advanced engineering can be integrated into projects with real economic and social impact.
Direct contact with industry
The initiative acts as a bridge between academia and the labor market, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals. During the five-week program, participants will attend interactive workshops designed to help them transform ideas into practical solutions for economic and technological projects. They will also take part in networking sessions with entrepreneurs, experts and industry leaders, while working in interdisciplinary teams to develop applied projects. The program concludes with a pitching competition, where students present their ideas in a professional format similar to presentations delivered to investors or companies. At the end of the program, participants receive graduation certificates and present their projects during the final event.
Program impact
In 2025, the The Next Generation of Innovators© program received a special mention in the Education category at the Romanian Sustainability & CSR Awards, recognizing its impact in supporting young talent and strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
Since its launch, the program has become an important development platform for students interested in innovation and technology. Across the eight editions organized so far, it has hosted 75 educational and experiential events, bringing together more than 90 national and international speakers and around 70 volunteers and specialists from Garrett Motion. The program has produced over 800 graduates and reached more than 3,000 beneficiaries through its activities.
Participation is free of charge, through scholarships offered by Garrett Motion following the selection process.
