Google is investing $30 million to support AI skills development across Europe through its “AI Works for Europe” initiative, launched at the “Future of Work” forum in Riga, according to Agerpres.
The program targets graduating students and employees, helping them integrate AI into their careers and daily work.

The initiative involves partnerships with public institutions, employers, and universities, supported by the Google.org AI Opportunity Fund.
Non-profits INCO and Chance are implementing the NewFutures:AI program, offering training and career guidance for final-year students, with a goal of at least 50 university partnerships.
Impact and local initiatives
Since 2015, Google has trained over 21 million Europeans in digital and AI skills. In Romania and Moldova, more than 8,500 people have been trained through partnerships with the National Institute of Administration Romania.
Locally, Google is working with Talents for Tech to deliver hybrid training programs.
A Google AI Professional Certificate will also be available in Romania free of charge in the coming months.
Rising demand for AI skills
Around 25% of entry-level roles now require AI skills, while 74% of SMEs struggle to find qualified candidates.
Demand has surged in sectors like finance and accounting, where AI requirements have tripled since 2023, and 41% of entry-level digital marketing roles now require AI knowledge.
