Alexandra Căpitănescu is a young Romanian artist known for her powerful voice and authentic stage presence. The winner of The Voice Romania 2023 and Romania’s representative at Eurovision 2026, she is quickly carving out her place among the new generation of artists. Together with her rock band, made up of five close friends, she writes and performs music, living every moment intensely, especially after their success in the national Eurovision selection, which brought them even closer, both on and off the stage.
C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career, what were the key moments that defined you?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: When I first came into contact with music, meaning singing and piano lessons. Then I started participating in TV competitions. Winning The Voice Romania trophy, which marked the true beginning of my career, forming my band, and winning the Eurovision Romania National Selection.
C&B: What has been the most difficult moment in your journey so far and how did you overcome it?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: The most difficult moment in my career was when I saw everyone else doing things while I felt stuck. I compared myself to others, criticized myself, thought I wouldn’t be a good songwriter, and lacked confidence in my vocal abilities.
C&B: Is there a dream or ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: Yes! To have a successful and long-lasting career in music.
C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey and how do you feel you’ve changed since then?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: The enthusiasm has remained the same. I’ll let the photos speak for me.
C&B: If we were to meet your collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: Probably that I’m persistent, hardworking, and—just like my name suggests, the captain of the boat.
C&B: What is the most important decision you’ve made that changed your trajectory?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: To take risks and, above all, to sing for myself.
C&B: How did you build your leadership style or your way of making decisions? Was it a natural or learned process?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: It came naturally over time, by working with people, having good role models in my life, and of course, by making mistakes that I learned from.
C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now and which moments bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: Every day is different. My time is split between concerts, filming, and the studio, but the most important thing for me is being among people. I recently had a concert and my favorite part of the evening was when people were singing the songs with us.
C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do and how do you apply them daily?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: Honesty, authenticity, perseverance, discipline, empathy.
C&B: If you were to send a message to people who follow your example, what would it be?
Alexandra Căpitănescu: In everything you do, boundaries are very important. Put your heart first, love your art, and allow yourselves to feel things without shame. Thank you for being with us and for helping us make our dream come true.
