Works for the metro project in Cluj-Napoca are entering a preliminary stage, with site organization operations starting for the future “Copiilor” station in Florești. According to Actualdecluj.ro, these activities are scheduled between April 20–30, 2026.
The general contractor Gülermak announced that essential equipment for the next stage will be delivered to the site, including trench cutter machinery, while the area will be temporarily fenced and prepared with a working platform.

Project representatives stated that these interventions are necessary for preparing construction works and assured that the area will be restored to its original condition after this phase, with costs covered by the contractor.
Project still far from tunneling stage
Despite visible activity on-site, infrastructure experts warn that the project is not yet ready for tunnel excavation.
Asociația Pro Infrastructură points out that key technical elements required for drilling are still missing.
Its president, Ionuț Ciurea, told Adevărul that the structure needed to launch drilling equipment — the launch shaft (PLS) — is not yet completed.
Technical and logistical gaps
According to him, the project lacks critical components such as power supply, water sources, and wastewater evacuation infrastructure.
There are also uncertainties regarding the full delivery of equipment and the availability of space required for assembling tunneling machines.
