Online retailer evomag is accelerating its international expansion strategy by listing on the Kaufland marketplace in Austria, with Germany set to follow next month. The information was reported by Economica.net.
The move comes as the local eCommerce market offers limited growth opportunities, pushing the company to diversify revenue streams and strengthen its regional presence.

Marketplaces as a growth driver
In 2025, marketplace sales accounted for nearly 25% of evomag’s total business, with projections of at least 30% growth in 2026.
The company currently has nine active marketplace presences, including eMAG, Skroutz, Trendyol, Temu, and Kaufland Austria.
Strategic markets: Austria and Germany
Austria represents a key step, particularly for positioning in the German-speaking market. Germany is the next target, alongside other CEE markets such as Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Poland.
Investment and operational complexity
Entering a new marketplace requires investments between €30,000 and €50,000, along with operational and logistical adjustments.
Favorable European trends
According to Eurostat, 78% of EU internet users shopped online in 2025, supporting the expansion strategy.
A key Romanian eCommerce player
Founded by Mihai Pătrașcu, evomag serves over 60,000 daily users and secured a €2 million investment from Catalyst România in 2022.
