Electric and plug-in hybrid sales up 26% worldwide
Global sales of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose by 26% in September, reaching a record 2.1 million units, according to data from research firm Rho Motion.
China remained the driving force, accounting for about two-thirds of global sales, or nearly 1.3 million vehicles. “September is typically the most active month for car purchases in China, and buyers rushed to benefit from subsidies for old vehicles before they expired in some regions,” said Charles Lester, data manager at Rho Motion.
