GPT-5.4 mini is positioned as a high-performance alternative to the flagship model, offering strong capabilities in analysis and understanding.
It will be available to free users via the “Thinking” option, while paid users will automatically access it after reaching usage limits on the main model.
According to the company, GPT-5.4 mini outperforms GPT-5.0 in reasoning and multimodal understanding across text, voice, images, and video.
GPT-5.4 nano: optimized for scale
OpenAI also introduced GPT-5.4 nano, a model designed for low cost and high efficiency.
It targets tasks such as classification and data extraction and is available exclusively via API for developers.
The cost is approximately $0.2 per million input tokens, making it suitable for large-scale applications.
Expanding the AI ecosystem
With these releases, OpenAI continues to expand its AI ecosystem, addressing both consumer needs and enterprise-scale applications.
