ANOFM: unemployment rate falls to 3.34% in February 2026

The national unemployment rate stood at 3.34% at the end of February 2026, down by 0.01 percentage points compared to both the previous month and February 2025, according to data released by ANOFM and cited by Agerpres.

Total number of unemployed

The total number of registered unemployed persons was 267,542.

Of these, 62,303 were receiving unemployment benefits (down by 1,672), while 205,239 were non-beneficiaries (up by 1,103 month-on-month).

Urban vs rural distribution

Most unemployed individuals are from rural areas:

196,027 in rural areas
71,515 in urban areas

Gender breakdown

There is a slightly higher number of unemployed men:

139,049 men
128,493 women

Age groups

The highest number of unemployed people is in the 40–49 age group (65,282), followed by those aged 55 and over (65,893).

The lowest number is recorded among those aged 25–29 (15,850).
