OpenAI has agreed to acquire Technology Business Programming Network (TBPN), a Silicon Valley-based tech talk show, in a deal reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars, according to Financial Times.
A growing media platform in tech ecosystem
Launched in October 2024, TBPN has built a loyal audience among startup founders and investors. Hosted by Jordi Hays and John Coogan, the show has featured interviews with industry leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman.

The platform attracts around 70,000 viewers per episode and was on track to generate approximately $30 million in revenue in 2026, mainly from advertising.
Strategic move without impacting core products
Fidji Simo, head of product at OpenAI, described TBPN as a key space where AI and developer conversations actively take place.
The company emphasized that the acquisition will not distract from core priorities such as ChatGPT and enterprise AI tools. Sources indicated that engineering teams will not be directly involved in the project.
Editorial independence maintained
OpenAI confirmed that TBPN will remain based in Los Angeles and retain its editorial independence, despite the ownership change.
The TBPN team will report to Chris Lehane and support marketing and communication efforts, while continuing to operate as an independent media platform.
