Romanian fresh food concept Piața 9 is entering the Bucharest market with the launch of its first location in the capital – Bakery P9, set to open at the ground floor of Victoria Center, according to Forbes.
An integrated artisanal food concept
Piața 9 combines multiple culinary segments, ranging from premium butchery and on-demand preparation to bakery, confectionery, and ready-to-eat products. The company currently operates several divisions, including artisanal chocolate, pastry, and restaurant services, supported by a team of over 150 employees.
The Bucharest expansion is built around the Bakery P9 format, focused on artisanal products, carefully selected ingredients, and a direct, community-oriented customer experience.

International background and rapid growth
Founders Anca Galea and Daniel Galea bring over 10 years of experience in the UK, where they developed a butchery business collaborating with major retailers such as Asda and Tesco.
Launched in 2018 in Oradea, the business started in a 200 sqm space, later expanding into a 400 sqm food hall with more than 200 seats. In parallel, the brand developed a digital component through its own platform and mobile app, generating a significant volume of orders.
“We are not just two founders, but a dedicated team building this company day by day. For us, Piața 9 means community, shared growth, and a commitment to quality,” said Daniel Galea, Co-founder and Managing Director.
Expansion in a growing food market
The move into Bucharest comes amid a rapidly evolving local food market, where consumers are increasingly focused on quality, ingredient sourcing, and overall experience.
The approximately 200 sqm retail space was leased with the support of Colliers, within Victoria Center, owned by Solida Capital Europe, which acquired the asset in 2025.
According to Liana Dumitru, the addition of Piața 9 strengthens the tenant mix and enhances the retail component of the building.
