Raiffeisen brings investment education into its banking app

Raiffeisen Bank Romania launches the digital program “Start in Investments”, available directly in the Smart Mobile banking app. The initiative provides users with an interactive module explaining how financial investments work, both for beginners and for clients who already hold investment products.

The program includes five interactive courses, available in Romanian and English, together with a self-assessment questionnaire. The content is structured so that it can be easily completed even by individuals with no prior investment experience.

Raiffeisen positions this initiative as a response to key psychological barriers identified among Romanians: the belief that investments are only for high-income individuals, limited financial knowledge and fear of losing money.

The courses provide clear explanations about risk, portfolio diversification and long-term benefits in a guided, step-by-step format. The program also highlights that investments can start with accessible amounts, from approximately 200 lei.

“We aim to bring the discussion about investments closer to our clients, directly into the app they use daily. We know that, most of the time, the biggest obstacle to investing is lack of clarity. Some clients believe investments are only for financial experts, others hesitate because they do not know where to start. This is where we step in, with this initiative integrated directly into Smart Mobile, so that information reaches clients as easily as possible. We believe this digital content will begin to change the way Romanians perceive investments and, in doing so, we continue to stand by our clients, offering them advisory support and solutions tailored to their needs, so they can make the best financial decisions.” – Mihail Ion, Vice President Retail and Member of the Management Board of Raiffeisen Bank Romania.

The module was developed internally in partnership with Raiffeisen Bank International, based on client feedback and market research. The initiative primarily targets first-time investors and aims to increase the number of users making their first investment through the app, while strengthening long-term saving behavior.
