Robert Trandafir: The Journey of a Leader Who Puts People Before Numbers

Robert Trandafir is an entrepreneur, founder of the Zeph agency, and business mentor, with experience in the eCommerce and B2B fields, and a clear vision of sustainable growth shaped by hands-on experience in business, sports, and leadership. Robert has over 15 years of experience in online marketing and 12 years as an agency founder. He has worked with businesses of all sizes and has helped develop many valuable people along the way.

C&B: How would you describe yourself in one sentence to impress those who don’t know you yet?
Robert Trandafir: Husband, father of girls, digital marketing entrepreneur, marathon runner, a curious man who asks many questions, tends to stay one step ahead of the trend, and believes that every good business is about people.

C&B: What key moments have defined you?
Robert Trandafir:
• When I chose to leave an agency I had built for years and start again, with less noise and more meaning.
• When I discovered my passion for running. I started in November 2023, and since then I’ve run several half-marathons, one marathon, and recently, a long mountain run.
• When I learned to say “no” and refused clients who didn’t align with my vision.
• When I completed an MBA.
• When I understood I don’t have to do everything myself and that I always have great help from God. I just need to remember to reach for it.

C&B: The most difficult moment and how did you overcome it?
Robert Trandafir: Recently, when I decided to start Zeph and leave behind the agency I had co-founded and led for a long time.
I was helped, one by one, by: family, people who gave me trust, my team, sports, and the clear decision not to continue with things that no longer energized me.

C&B: Has there been a dream or ambition that always guided you?
Robert Trandafir: Yes. To build a business that has a real impact on the lives of the people around me. No masks. No buzzwords. With honesty and strategy.

C&B: How did you look at the beginning and how have you transformed?
Robert Trandafir: At the beginning, I was much more focused on execution and performance. I wanted things to happen very fast. Now I see the importance of context, the team, and rhythm. It’s not just about delivery. It’s about building sustainably.

C&B: What would your team or collaborators say about you?
Robert Trandafir: I’m not sure exactly, but probably that I ask a lot of questions, am always looking for solutions, and have a vision. I’m present in the process and strongly support the development of others’ autonomy.

C&B: The most important decision?
Robert Trandafir: To start from scratch. With clarity. With a smaller but highly aligned team.

C&B: How did you build your leadership style?
Robert Trandafir: From sports and observing calm leaders. Carlo Ancelotti inspired me a lot. I believe in quiet leadership. You don’t need to control. You need to create context.

C&B: What sets your approach apart?
Robert Trandafir: We work deeply, not in a rush. We turn down projects without vision. We get truly involved. We don’t just deliver “content”. We deliver clarity, positioning, strategy. And then we can implement what we think—ourselves or with the right partners. Yes, we also do a lot of ads. 🙂

C&B: What does an ordinary day look like?
Robert Trandafir: I run. I write. I think strategies. I talk with my team. I meet people (clients, partners, potential new colleagues). Almost daily, I enjoy a walk through Cișmigiu. Evenings are usually for my family. Every day is a mix of work, introspection, decisions, and time for myself.

C&B: What values guide you?
Robert Trandafir: Courage, continuous development, perseverance, family, and being human.

C&B: How did the business and name idea come about?
Robert Trandafir: Zeph comes from Zephyr – a gentle wind, a wind of positive change. Our positioning is that of growth partners based on digital marketing tools. I wanted an agency that brings direction to a noisy market. There’s a great need for integrators, and we’re working hard to be excellent ones.

C&B: A message for those following your example:
Robert Trandafir: Be present. Be persistent. Enjoy yourself and the process. Reward yourself when you succeed. Choose to build with people who suit you. And don’t forget: sometimes, progress means stopping for a moment and asking yourself – “Why am I doing this?”

Through Zeph, Robert not only delivers marketing solutions, but also shapes real growth directions for both people and businesses.
