An interview with Darius Eneea Mârza on vision, faith, and the creation of Wonderland Cluj — a project built through hard work, perseverance, and the desire to bring people together through meaningful experiences.
C&B: How would you describe yourself in a single sentence, in a way that would spark the curiosity of those who do not yet know you?
Darius Eneea Mârza: The skillful instrument of God through which He managed to build the largest resort in Romania with divine energy, in order to make the world happier, more fulfilled, and better.
C&B: If we were to look at a narrative thread of your career or business, which were the key moments that defined you?
Darius Eneea Mârza: The first moment was when, at 18, I opened my first restaurant. Then, in 2012, with only 500 euros, I started building Wonderland on marshy land, under conditions so harsh they were truly unimaginable. That is where it all began. Wonderland did not appear overnight — it was built through daily work, constant reinvestment, and faith that we would succeed. Another important moment was the launch of Wonder Family Fest — when we truly took on the mission of promoting family unity as the most important thing for a healthy, good, and stable society.

C&B: What were the main challenges in opening and developing a hotel and a resort in Romania?
Darius Eneea Mârza: Everything was a challenge: from the lack of infrastructure and utilities to the unstable land. But the hardest battle was with bureaucracy: permits and zoning plans. And let us not forget that the workforce was and remains a major challenge.
C&B: Is there a dream or an ambition that has always guided you, regardless of obstacles?
Darius Eneea Mârza: I have dreamed my entire life, but what matters most is that every morning when I woke up, I did not stop until I saw each vision materialized and implemented. God whispers to us, He offers us fulfillment and the power to overcome any obstacle, as well as the energy needed to bring every inspired project to completion, no matter how complex or intangible it may seem to the human mind. But we have the duty to work and to persevere. I have always felt that I was created to succeed in making society better and, through me, to promote the profound virtues that truly matter in life.
C&B: What were you like at the beginning of your journey, and how do you feel you have transformed up to the present?
Darius Eneea Mârza: I was an active person, first and foremost correct, impatient, full of life, with initiative; I put my hand to anything without hesitation and without shying away from work, no matter how hard it was. Going through life, all hardships shaped me powerfully and strengthened me to the maximum, and thus I gained a great deal of wisdom and patience. Life’s trials strengthened my faith deeply, because each day felt like a miracle that I could, inexplicably, get through. Because I have lived and gone through so many experiences in life, of all kinds and on all levels, today I can advise, help, and motivate almost anyone I meet.
C&B: If we were to meet your team or collaborators, what do you think they would say about you?
Darius Eneea Mârza: In order for the answer to be as real and close to the truth as possible, without being subjective, I kept exactly the words of my colleague through whom you contacted me; I did not change even a single word of her statement:
They would probably say that I am a perfectionist, hard to please, and that I do not go home until I finish what I set out to do. But also that I put my heart into it, that I do not shy away from work, that I am present, and that I have a good memory — I know exactly what I told each person and what I promised.
C&B: What is the most important decision you have made that changed your trajectory?
Darius Eneea Mârza: The decision to take a 50,000-euro loan and leave home at 18 to open my first restaurant, even though everyone was against it, including my parents. From that moment on, my entire life I chose to follow my vision, even when everyone told me it was impossible. It was, in fact, an act of faith, through which my whole life I have entered through the single door that was open at every moment.
C&B: How do you manage to create memorable experiences for guests and maintain high hospitality standards?
Darius Eneea Mârza: There are no shortcuts; everything I have built at Wonderland is based on the motto “Our client, our master,” and I believe in it with my entire being. Everything we do here is meant to ensure that all the people we come into contact with are fully satisfied with our services. We put ourselves in the place of those who come to us, and we make no compromises when it comes to quality and integrity.
C&B: What sets Wonderland Cluj apart from other resorts and hotels in Romania?
Darius Eneea Mârza: Wonderland is a corner of heaven, a mini wonderland, a divine place, God’s reference project in Romania. A location where, if you are open in mind and soul, you can fill yourself with grace and energy, with a breathtaking view over the city, in the heart of nature, bordered by forest on two sides, which is why the air is extremely clean. It feels as if you were hundreds of kilometers away from the city, yet you are only 5.5 km from the center of Cluj. We have everything: relaxation, adrenaline, gastronomy, events, and, above all, soul.

C&B: What does a typical day look like for you now, and which moments of the day bring you the greatest satisfaction?
Darius Eneea Mârza: A hard question, because my day lasts about 96 hours 😊. About once every 4–5 days I manage to sleep around 4 hours; the rest of the night I read all my emails, check everything related to operations, and when I lie stretched out in bed, every 10 minutes I pick up my phone and write ideas in my notes, which are the homework for the next day. What I enjoy most is seeing children running through the resort, families smiling, people relaxing; that is when I feel fulfilled, knowing that I am not sacrificing myself continuously without results.
C&B: What values or principles guide you in what you do, and how do you apply them day by day?
Darius Eneea Mârza: I live by the highest principles, solely to strengthen my values and virtues, because the only thing we will take with us after death is our character, the humanity with which we lived our lives; these are the core traits of the soul, which is the only thing that will endure for eternity. Concretely, I strive every day to be a little more humble compared to the previous day; I make no compromises, I do not lie, I have never stolen, I have never owed anyone a single leu, I have never cheated, and I do my utmost to be as upright as possible. I struggle tirelessly to keep my earthly nature in check, because only in this way can you be a complete leader. I do everything I can to help everyone who crosses my path, I love everyone, I force myself to look only at the positive sides of my fellow humans, I strive as much as possible to be calm and conciliatory, but firmly, not to swear and not to gossip about anyone. In one single sentence: everything I do passes through God’s filter, meaning with a great deal of love for my neighbor.
C&B: How did Wonderland Cluj come to life, and what inspired you to start this hotel resort?
Darius Eneea Mârza: Ever since I was young I have loved nature and I am obsessed with views; moreover, at 18, after opening my first restaurant between apartment blocks, where neighbors filed monthly complaints that we were disturbing them with music, I wanted to develop something “in the middle of nowhere,” without neighbors. All my life I searched for a location that would tick these boxes, and in parallel I had paid advances in about five different places, on every hilltop around the city. After 10 years of hard work to overcome heavy bureaucracy, I managed to obtain the first building permit here, where Wonderland is now, and I no longer kept the other plots on the hills of Cluj.
C&B: What advice would you give to entrepreneurs who want to invest in tourism and hospitality in Romania?
Darius Eneea Mârza: First of all, to work to the maximum, to be extremely fair with everyone, especially with clients, to do everything in their power to ensure the client leaves satisfied, to do things with quality, to be willing to live in discomfort and supreme sacrifice in order to fulfill their dream and reach the potential they were created with, to be the kind of people who are good at everything and who put their hand to anything; they must know how to do whatever is needed in their own business so as not to be at anyone’s mercy. They should never forget that any kick in the backside is a step forward, and that nothing in life is accidental, and from every event we must extract a major lesson. They should not be materialistic and should not think about money first, but push their limits ever higher. They should not forget that God gives and God takes away, when He considers it necessary to reset or strengthen you. They should not fear bankruptcy, because in any case we take nothing material with us; what matters is to be upright and ambitious, in order to bring their project to completion. Every new beginning will come with more wisdom, and they will reach farther each time.
They should not seek quick success. They should put their heart into it, understand people, and be present in their business. They should build in a healthy way, step by step, and have patience. They should believe in their idea, even if at the beginning it seems impossible. And above all, they should be there — with their hands, their minds, and their hearts.
Darius Eneea Mârza’s story is one of courage, faith, and the responsibility to build with purpose. Beyond the scale of a resort, Wonderland Cluj reflects a deeper vision about people, family, and community. It is a journey that shows success is not measured only in numbers, but in the impact you have on others and the values you choose to live by every day.
