Politehnica Bucharest invests over RON 38 million in new dormitory and upgrades six others in Regie

Politehnica Bucharest has launched the “Campus Regie Student Dormitory” project, which includes the construction of a new accommodation building in the Regie complex, with a capacity of 170 places. The total investment exceeds RON 38 million, according to Wall-Street.

The new dormitory will primarily serve students from disadvantaged backgrounds and will have a total built area of 5,901 sqm. The estimated completion date is August 31, 2026.

Energy efficiency and inclusion investments

According to the institution’s statement, the project aligns with European priorities supporting the green transition through education and training, amid limited funding and socio-economic challenges affecting young people.

“Proiectul răspunde priorităţii europene strategice de susţinere a tranziţiei verzi prin educaţie şi formare, precum şi unor provocări esenţiale pentru dezvoltarea sustenabilă cu care se confruntă învăţământul universitar din România, mai ales în contextul finanţării reduse din ultimii ani, a situaţiei socio-economice a tinerilor şi libertăţii de mobilitate a acestora”, the statement reads.

At the same time, the university has initiated the “Thermal rehabilitation of dormitories P1-P6 in the Regie student complex” project. The six dormitories have a combined capacity of 1,682 places, with completion also scheduled for August 31, 2026.

Institution representatives added: “Obiectivul general al proiectului reprezintă dezvoltarea rezilienţei şi modernizarea infrastructurii universităţii Politehnica Bucureşti prin creşterea performanţei energetice, cu cel puţin 50%, a 6 cămine studenţeşti din Campusul studenţesc Regie, cu o capacitate de 1.682 de locuri de cazare destinate studenţilor, cu precădere celor proveniţi din categorii dezavantajate, contribuind la asigurarea dimensiunii sociale/incluzive a învăţământului superior în regiunea Bucureşti-Ilfov”.
